Gold Coast Hinterland
Made up of the McPherson Range, Gold Coast Hinterland is home to a variety of national parks. In the south, Springbrook National Park features waterfalls such as Purlingbrook Falls and Goomoolahra Falls, as well as ancient Antarctic Beech trees. The park's Natural Bridge houses a colony of glow worms. To the north, Tamborine Mountain National Park offers rainforest trails and views of the coast.

Broadbeach
Cosmopolitan Broadbeach, immediately south of Surfers Paradise, is home to Conrad Jupiters Casino (Queensland’s oldest). A covered walkway connects the casino to the new Gold Coast Convention and Visitors Centre, and Pacific Fair Shopping Centre is also within walking distance. The wide sandy beaches of Broadbeach and Kurrawa Beach beckon swimmers and sunbathers.

Burleigh Heads
Burleigh Heads is a small Gold Coast town whose beaches attract surfers to the strong breaks. The David Fleay Wildlife Park features indigenous wildlife and is located near the edge of town along the Tallebudgera Estuary. Burleigh Heads National Park is a forest reserve and headland with walking trails and picnic areas.

Coolangatta-Tweed Heads
Coolangatta is a popular surfing destination, and board rentals are available. Gold Coast Airport (OOL) is just 4 km north of town. The neighboring community to the south, Tweed Heads, is where Queensland meets New South Wales. The Captain Cook Memorial Lighthouse at nearby Point Danger straddles the border.

Main Beach
The area’s de-facto tourism centre, Main Beach is a long strip of shopping and dining complexes including Marina Mirage, where most cruise ships depart from and where jet-skis can be rented. Main Beach is so named because it is the closest beach to the town of Southport, separated from the sea by the Nerang River and a narrow isthmus.

North Gold Coast
The area north of Main Beach and Surfers Paradise is home to myriad theme parks. Among them are Dreamworld, which features several high-adrenaline thrill rides and was the setting for Australia’s Big Brother; Warner Bros. Movie World, which has roller coasters and other Warner Bros. movie-themed attractions; and Sea World, which offers marine-themed activities as well as helicopter rides.

Surfers Paradise
Surfers Paradise has the most vibrant nightlife anywhere along the Gold Coast. The main streets are east-west Cavill Ave, with its beachfront pedestrian mall, and north-south Orchid Ave, where many bars and nightclubs are located. Many budget hotels are located in Surfers Paradise, and the beach town also has an especially wide variety of Asian restaurants.
