“Great Value for the Money”

This is the third time I stay at this hotel in two years. The rooms are large compared to other hotels in the city, and the rates are reasonable. The hotel lobby may be crowded and noisy during morning check-out and afternoon check-in times as the hotel accommodates large number of tour groups. The housekeeping staff was very courteous and had tried to be helpful. One complain I had was the in-room refrigerator that did not keep its contents cold. Apparently the refrigerator needed major repair or simply a replacement. After four complains to the housekeeping staff and the front desk, the problem was still not resolved. At one point I thought if I wanted to have a working refrigerator was to switch to another room. Did not do that because I did not want to pack and unpack again. So I stayed in the same room with a non-working refrigerator for my entire 13-night stay (YES, 13 nites!). Other than this, everything else was OK as any other hotel should be. And, for the price I paid, this hotel is of great value. I am currently planning another visit to HK and this hotel is on my list.

Area recommendations
Though location of hotel is not close to any major business districts, I like the tranquility of Shatin as a leisure traveller. If you don't mind to mingle with the locals, there are many local restaurants around the hotel that you can eat at local prices. The hotel provides shuttle buses to Newtown Plaza(a major shopping and restaurant mall in Shatin) where MTR(Mass Transit Railway) is also located within. You can go almost anywhere with MTR in Hong Kong. The Mall is also within walking distance(about 10-15 minutes walking). There are several local bus stops by the river bank just outside one of the doors of the hotel that one can hop-on and travel to other major business and tourist areas in Hong Kong. The stop for Bus route A41($21 HK one way), which goes to the airport, is also located outside the hotel among other local bus stops. Taking this airport-hotel bus instead of the expensive airport shuttle provided by the hotel, One can save a big bunch of $$$.

This Hotel has hit on a winner with their i Club profile. My wife and I both agree that of all our accommodation, from motels to 5 star Hotels The regal Riverside iclub was the best experience. “Accomodating Modern Hotel at Sha-Tin”

Arrived hours early and the staff was accomodating anyway and set me up with a room that was ready, although a bit smaller than the one I booked I was delighted to just get the room and put down my luggage after a long plane ride. The next day I was transferred to a larger room as I requested with no problems.

Area recommendations
The restaurants around the hotel are cheaper than the restaurants inside the hotel. The restaurants if you walk to the right of the back entrance are a great value.

“Good Hotel”

Very spacious room. Good service. Located along scenic river in Sha Tin New Territories, HK. Lots of eating outlets behind hotel. Try the hotel's 24 hours dessert place and lunch buffet.

“Very good hotel for the money but some staff may need additional training.”

I check in & out the iclub room,(which is on the 15th.floor) with no bell boy assisted on luggages. I asked for the schedule of the shuttle bus to New Town Plaza, hotel staff told me to wait in the lobby but they end up forgetting to notify me when the bus arrived and left. lots of tour groups checking in and out everyday and once they checked in they had their door opened and chatted loudly and smoked freely in the hallway. The front desk staff was a jewel and great help though. Special thanks to Andy, who's courtesy and professionalism changed my impression to this hotel 100%. Keep it up guys.

“you get what you pay for”

There was a bad vibe at the hotel because the staff had just got a pay cut. The pacakge I bought offered airport transportation but when I got there at the Regal Kiosk the rep told be that the las buss was 11pm and I had to take the public bus, sad b/c I called a day before to have that arranged and they did not tell me about the cut off time. There was a dirty women's underware under my bad. Sha Tin is very far from downtown. The internet was expensive and it succked.

Traveller's tip
stay closer to dwon town, it's just a few extra bucks that you would spend with public transportation or taxis anyway. People in Hong Kong are very friendly, if you look lost staring at your map, someone may just come and offer assistance, which is really cool. I lost my wallet with my ids and money in it, someone found it and returned it to the hotel with everything in it. It's a very safe city, but it's too hot in September.

“Good 4* hotel at a reasonable price”

Quiet and comfortable, plenty of room space. Always stayed at Regal Riverside due to price, access to public transportation - MTR at Town Center Mall 15 minutes away; airport bus immediately outside the Hotel. Safe to walk back to hotel from MTR even at midnight. Shatin is more preferred than other crowed areas like Mongkok or Timshatsui because of quality of air, green zone at the river and variety of eateries at the Mall or nearby housing neighborhood.

Traveller's tip
Instead of staying at Wanchai or causeway Bay and pay a stiffer hoel price, I rather spend HK$24 for a round trip MTR. Besides, rooms on the Hong Kong island side are much smaller for a higher price.
