Warm tones and woods complement the contemporary interior design at the Mandarin Spa, which spans three floors. A wide array of treatments and therapies are carried out within the spa's facilities, which comprise a salon, men's barber, and eight private treatment rooms—including two couples' suites with private bath and showers—an “Ayurvedic Sanctuary,” hydrotherapy room, Kneipp pool, Chinese herbal steam rooms, and Vichy shower.
Drawing on a combination of specially-selected methods and philosophies from around the world, the Mandarin Spa provides treatments to relax, restore, and repair the body and mind. Healing therapies are inspired by traditional Chinese medicine and the ancient philosophies of Ayurveda.
Oriental Harmony (110 minutes):
Four hands work in perfect unison in a remarkable experience that inspires a harmony of the senses. The treatment begins with a soothing footbath in purifying waters, leaving them soft and supple and the mind relaxed. Next, two therapists correspond in time and movement, first providing a warm scrub that soothes and replenishes the skin and later a harmonious massage that balances the body. The treatment concludes with both head and feet being massaged simultaneously. The mind is uplifted, the body is energised and the skin is left exotically fragrant.
Imperial Jade (120 minutes):
This stimulating new ritual offers the perfect antidote to the pulsating rhythm of the city and consists of two hours of superlative pampering during which the body is stimulated with a series of techniques. The journey begins with a foot-cleansing herbal compress and reflexology to open meridian energy lines. A Chinese-style massage is then performed to stimulate acupressure points and aid in tension release, balancing both yin and yang energies.
A luxurious combination of locally-sourced sesame and ground rice body scrub follows to lighten and stimulate the skin before a green tea and algae body mask—specifically blended to eliminate toxins and refine the skin. The treatment concludes with a ginseng facemask, renowned for its anti-aging effects through cellular renewal, during which cool jade rollers are used on the face to lift and tone while hydrating the complexion, ensuring equilibrium in both mind and body.
Hydrotherapy Tub Treatment (30 minutes):
This body treatment combines the therapeutic benefits of multi-directional jet pressures and essential oils to enhance the body and mind, with different programmes to work on specific key areas of concern. It is ideal for relieving physical and mental tension and refreshing the body.
Aroma Stone Massage (50 or 120 minutes):
Stone therapy is a Native American Indian practice used since ancient times as a healing treatment. The use of stones generates energy, creating a sense of balance and calm as well as giving relief to deep-seated muscle tension.
Chinese Meridian Massage (60 minutes):
Although attention is placed on the tendomuscular system, focus is on acupressure points and directional flow of the subtle channels in the body. Chinese meridian massage is more than a system of relaxation and tension release. The focus is on the subtle energy channels which influence the organs on a deeper level and treats complex complaints. (Cupping may also be included within the treatment time if guest's particular condition requires this.)
Abhyanga (60 minutes):
Abhyanga is a light form of massage that does not involve muscle manipulation. "Abhyanga" literally means "application of oil", and uses herbs, oil, touch and friction to elicit a deeply relaxing effect on the nervous system. It has a balancing effect on all three doshas or body types. It also helps mobilise toxins, promote youthfulness, and increase energy. A steam bath or hot shower is highly recommended after this massage.
