Gateway Marco Polo Hotel is in the waterfront Harbour City shopping/dining complex, a short stroll from the Star Ferry terminal. The lively Temple Street Night Market is about 1 km (0.6 mi) away.
The hotel's Michelin-rated La Brasserie serves French cuisine, while the Coffee Mill features lavish buffets with both Asian and Western specialties. The Tartan Bar, modeled after Scottish pubs, offers happy-hour specials.
A business center is open 24 hours a day and the hotel provides a meeting/conference room. An Aveda salon provides hair care and spa services. “Will stay at Marco Polo Gateway again”
I was very please with the size of the hotel and can't wait to stay there again. Also, the staff were very helpful and pleasant.
“Perfect Location and Very friendly staff”
The hotel is located within walking distance to Tsim Tsa Tsui MTR station (150m approx.) and ferry terminal to Macau (80m approx.) which depart every 30min. It is just above the Harbour City shopping complex, which is a very large shopping complex full of branded store (DKNY, Channel, Prada etc). There is also convenient store (Watson) and well known toy store (Toy R Us) within the complex. For a tone down version, just walk across the street or overhead bridge linked to Harbour City, you can access another multi level shopping complex with store like Sa Sa (cosmetic). For currency conversion, there are about half a dozen bank just across the street from the hotel. Be sure the check the exchange rate and the service fee before doing business with them. Their rate change by the day. If you are looking for tailor make suit, there are about a dozen of them around the Tsim Tsa Tsui MTR station, make sure you shop around and hagger the price. I had mine done for HKD 2,950 at L&K Custom Tailor at 2 Carnarvon Rd. That include Jacket, pant, business shirt and a silk tie. When I stayed at the hotel, there were some renovation happening. However, the management had done a great job in reducing the noise level and only restrict the work between 0730 to 1800. To be honest, I didn't hear any noise at all during the 5 days I stayed at the hotel except for 1 day when they were doing some drilling above my room. Overall, it is a great hotel, very spacious room with 2 double bed.
“Great location, great service”
The service was superb. I always book on the Executive Club floor. The personalized service is great, the club relaxing, and the location perfect for getting around the Star Ferry/City Complex area.
“Gateway to Shopping Paradise”
I've stayed at The Gateway many times because of it's great location. However, it is not a cheap hotel and charges rates up there with Marriott and Sofitel, so it's about time they spent some money on refurbishing rooms that clearly haven't had a penny spent on them for 20 years at least! If they want to charge 5 star prices then they need to live up to those standards and although the rooms are comfortable and they service is very good, the furniture is like badly jaded.
“Good Location and Reasonable Quality”
My wife and I stayed on the Club Floor of this hotel for 4 nights. Overall the hotel was clean and comfortable. The facilities on the Club Floor were reasonable in today's market, included a good breakfast offering and free wifi in the lounge all day. Room was smallish but adequate for a short stay. Bed was only standard double size but comfortable and clean. Bathroom was acceptable standard and quite large by comparison to other hotels we've stayed at. Location near the Kowloon Sea Terminal was good for getting to various transport options. It is integrated into a large shopping centre offering many restaurants of varied cuisine and price range. Overall we were happy with this choice of hotel and would stay there again. The tourist adviser in the Lobby was not so helpful though.

The hotel is in a great location, close to shopping locations and restuarants and transportation like ferry boat terminals. The room was a litle small but clean and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and polite. The breakfast buffet was wonderful, lots of choices.
“Great Location”
Don't expect too much from this Hotel as it is in need of a major renovations and the rooms are quite old and shabby. But considering it's ideal location it is good value. It is an easy walk to the ferry terminal to catch the ferry across to Central for shopping or a bus trip up to The Peak (bus 15C) and don't miss a bus trip to Stanley to shop at the Stanley markets, bus also from outside the Central pier or from the nearby Bus Terminal. Shopping around Marco Polo Gateway is good but expensive, walk to Nathan Rd for cheaper prices. Check out the Food Republic food hall downstairs from the street opposite Marco Polo Gateway.
“Club Floor value and old-style friendliness!”
Club rooms in good condition but not recently renovated - bedrooms perhaps bigger than newer hotels, especially the large bathrooms!. Outstanding feature is the incredible convenience of being actually in the middle of the enormous Harbourside shopping centre in Canton Road. Club floor is good value and quite select, quiet and private, but not 5 star level, but then you are not paying 5 star prices either! - In fact very reasonable prices considering the position and breakfast and Club access.bonuses. Actually the place is restful, being fitted out in dark wood accents
“Cruise Hotel”
Good location. Close to the harbour and ferry to Hong Kong. Surrounded by shops. Also within walking distance to the cruise terminal which was where we were heading. Reasonable price.
