We had a 2-storey unit (No 18), carpark outside the front door. It had been newly painted. The lounge/dining room/kitchen were on the ground floor, 2 large bedrooms (plenty of closet space) and large bathroom, upstairs. It was accommodation for 6 - double sofabed downstairs. The sofabed was very uncomfortable to sit on. I hope it made a more comfortable bed. We (me and my 92-year-old Mum) were in Hobart for my uncle's 100th birthday, so we had lots of friends and rellies coming in for cups of tea and drinks. They were all very impressed and the locals said they would keep Bayview Villas in mind if they needed extra space for visitors. The steps up to the 2nd floor are very narrow and we had to come down them sideways, but very good handrails. As the apartment was for 6, we were surprised that most of the crockery and glasses were only for 4. However, there is a good dishwasher drawer. Big fridge and freezer. Good heating - it snowed on Mt Wellington at night! Big floor-to-ceiling glass sliding door out to the huge lawn with lovely views out over the Casino and the river. Fabulous at night. Two chairs to sit on to watch the view under a limited shelter "verandah". Nice, big TV. Plenty of towels, etc. The staff were the friendliest and helpful you would ever meet. There was a bigger building behind with lovely big balconies and carparking underneath. I think these would be more expensive but would have even better views. You would definitely need a car.
Walking distance to both Sandy Bay supermarkets and Franklin Wharf. Bottle shop is just next to hotel. Hotel room is clean and comfortable. We stayed at 2 bedrooms room with fantastic harbour view. Price is reasonable and highly recommended.

We would most definately stay at Somerset on the Pier Hobart again because the staff were lovely, the location was exquisite and the room was wonderful. We loved being surrounded by water and thought it was quite unique to be staying on a pier...it brought out the relaxed holiday feeling as soon as we arrived at the door. The staff were exceptional...they were so friendly and welcoming. Our brief excursion was made all the more interesting because of our stay at the Somerset on the Pier Hobart.
Could not have been a better choice we stayed at the Henry Jones earlier when we first arrived in Hobart toured around Tasmania and arrived back in Hobart for one more night before flying out the next day decided to stay at a different hotel which we did and wished we had stayed there earlier as well.
Hotel was fantastic.

Hotel was in a great location, just a few steps from Salamanca Market and several good restaurants. Our apartment was very good, quiet, beds comfortable, off-street parking, plenty of tea and coffee! Would definitely recommend and would stay here again. Breakfast at Lenna's opposite was also good.
We loved staying here and didn't want to leave. The room was great for our needs and the location was perfect. We just had a short walk down the road to the many restaurants and bars as well as the Saturday markets. We couldn't have asked for more. Two thumbs up!!
