“Everything's great except the waiters at breakfast”
Riverside was the last hotel of 4 in a 20 day trip to Vietnam. It is in an ideal location for exploring the shopping delights of Saigon as well as many of the best restaurants Six major shopping centres and the Ben Thanh Market are within a kilometre as are many top notch restaurants. The rooms are clean and staff quickly respond to any inquiry for extra towels or assistance. The tour operator in the foyer is friendly and can organise tours to Long Tan as well as the usual fare around Saigon. The only issue with this hotel is the lack of effort by the waiters / waitresses when breakfast is served. The cook works his butt off as does the man making the juices. The rest (about 6) stand around and don't clear plates until you leave or serve tea of coffee. That's not good enough and lets down all the other staff who are working hard to make your stay a pleasure.
“Very Good Hotel”
The hotel's location is great, especially if you plan to join a river cruise with dinner, which, I should say, should be in every Ho Chi Minh visitor's itinerary. In fact, the river cruise with dinner is a fitting climax for a Ho Chi Minh holiday. The hotel's breakfast buffet was very good, especially the noodle soup, which I would say was the best I tasted in Vietnam.
“Good location, friendly staff”
There seems to be a lack of imagination in Saigon and there are two riverside hotels 100 metres apart, the other is 5 star. On arrival two door staff help you with your bags and show you to the desk. There is also a travel service based in the hotel called viettours, they are ver friendly offer good advice and will book anything for you, even if it has nothing to do with them. The rooms at the front of the hotel will have views of the river and expect to pay a little more for these, we had a room at the back, with views of the roofs. The rooms are big with a queen size bed, linen is clean and can be changed daily, in room safe an tv which a number of English channels. They will charge you for the soft drinks in the fridge, but bring your own in and keep them cool is fine. The bathroom is big with a toilet and shower, you also get free toiletries. The zircon works very well and we even had to turn it off at some points. A 15 min walk from the centre of Saigon, but you pass plenty of shops to stop on the way. A high end budget hotel, with joined restaurant nextdoor. Good location, and friendly staff. We'd happily go back
“great value atnd good location”
hotel space, clean bed, surrounding by 4 star hotel, overlook river for a price of high end guest house !
“Prime Location”
The hotel is very conveniently located, but I would only recommend it for those who are use to moderate levels of comfort. If you looking for the Four Seasons, look elsewhere, otherwise, stay here and enjoy.
“Good Hotel at Riverside Ho Chi Minh City”
We've arrived quite late in the evening in HCM but the airport taxi sent us to the Renaissance instead. Luckily the right hotel is just about 100 metres from Renaissance and is located close to many tourist attractions there. Check-in only requires our check-in ID and passport copy. For Muslims, halal food is abundant at Dong Du Road (next to Sheraton Hotel is a mosque) and you can walk from Riverside Hotel to the road. Everything was good at the hotel and is worth your money very much. You can ask for a keetle if you want to. Lot of foreigners especially Japanese stay there too. I've no problems to stay in the hotel again for my next trip to HCM.
“Good hotel, good location”
The night's stopover showed it as a decent, solid sort of hotel, located very close to the main stretch of restaurants and bars. Watch out for taxis getting it confused with the Renaissance hotel just along the street. Clean, comfortable and with plenty of space, it was quiet (our room didn't face the main street) with good air conditioning. It only took a couple of moments to work out that the aircon and lighting system worked off the control 'centre' that looked like a radio within the bedside table, but this is very minor compared to the generally good standard of everything else. Breakfast had a chef on hand for eggs cooked to your liking and plenty of toast and juices with a limited range of other food items. Staff were helpful and we had no problems with leaving our luggage in the hotel's safe store after we'd checked out due to the next leg of our travel being later in the day.
“This hotel deserves three and a half stars.”
Location of the hotel is good. It is quite handy to go to the busy streets and you can shop and eat the best Vietnamese food around. My room faces the Saigon River and the view is nice. However, as the street along the river bank is quite busy, there comes noise even by night. The hotel is a quite old building with only 4 stories. Still, condition is OK but question is on the carpets which should be replaced so to make the hotel upgraded. I like the room as being spacious and clean. Service is good and the buffet breakfast is fine if you are not a big eater. K. Li
“Not a bad place to stay for short durations”
The hotel was right by the river, although that does not mean much. HCMC has A LOT of motor bikes and they all see to ride by this hotel. The noise is not bad (I was on the fourth floor, on the back of the hotel). However, trying to cross the street means taking your life in your hands. You REALLY have to want to cross so be careful when you leave the hotel to go anywhere. The hotel itself feels pretty old. The room had only one lock with no deadbolt. The room itself feels old/dated with signs of wear and tear. Depending on the time of the date, the front desk personnel may or may not speak good English. They can usually answer your questions though. The breakfast was pretty good. There was both Asian (Congee, noodle soup, etc) and European (bread, cheese, cold cuts) items to select from. Overall, it was a good value for the rate. I didn't really get to see much of the "sights" since I didn't want to get run over. I did find the local market, which was kind of cool to see.
“Great Price, Decent Hotel With Excellent Service”
Half the price of other 3 star hotels with a great location by the river. Much nicer neighborhood than the hotels by the market place. Higher end stores around the hotel and souvenier items that can not be found at the markets. Look for the rice wine with the snake and scorpion inside. Only saw this wine and the viet cong hats near this hotel. Did not see at other places in HCMC or in the rest of South View Nam.
