“Nice new hotel, not near town center”

This hotel was very nice and comfortable, and we were very happy with the rooms. The breakfast buffet was excellent. It is not near the town center but there is a bus that runs frequently just 50 meters from the front door. The price was very reasonable.

“alhambra”

Best hotel to see alhambra. Great facilities, convinient (bus right next to hotel) to go to center of Granada, quiet unlike the hotels in center of granada. Absolutely great and I am usually very critical. Cannot say anything bad especially for the price.

Area recommendations

Any neighborhood. Ask hotel for recommendation for dinner. Best dinner I every had was in Granada. It was lamb leg. Specify meat or you will get excellent recommendations for seafood. Which is also good.

“Good hotel, but it is too hot in the room”

Everything was fine except for two things: 1) The temperature in the room cannot be controlled: it was terribly hot inside even though it was cold outside; 2) The restaurant is bad and heavily overpriced.

“Modern hotel in an ancient ciry”

Good hotel. Would recommend to anyone. Great buffet breakfast.

Area recommendations

Closer to town would be more convenient, but probably noisier.

When to go

Semana Santa (Holy Week) is a wonderful experience, but be prepared for the crowds.

“Looks better than it is”

The airconditioning didn't work at that time, so the room was very hot. They promissed severall times that they should make it work, but they didn't. The girls of the wellness part didn't speak english, they had to phone for everything with the reception.

“Very good Hotel”

The hotel was very good. We stayed there during a low-season, so we got an excellent price. The rooms were extremely clean and modern, and the lobby was also very nice. In order to go to the main town streets, it is necessary to grab a taxi. It is a 5 minute ride and it is inexpensive. I believe it is worth it to stay 5 minutes away from the main streets but have a clean, and modern hotel! I didn't eat at the restaurant, but if you are not there for work and have the time to eat outside, never eat at hotels!!!

“I'd recommend”

Tradeoff is location versus room rate for this upscale hotel. Bus 33 stops across from hotel. As bus climbs out of a commercial/residential street you'll see the hotel towering to your left on a hill side. Push the stop button when you pass an auto repair shop on your right. Bus stop is a post on a highway overpass. Get off quickly and cross street behind bus. Bus is stopping traffic so for your own safety don't dawdle. Bus stop to return to downtown is couple minutes from hotel. Takes about 15 minutes to get to Plaza Isabel. I usually waited about 10 minutes for bus. About an hour to walk from Plaza to hotel. Bus stop for Alhambra (city bus #13) is just up from hotel. Walk past Hotel Albero and Hostal Camino Real. I waited 10 minutes for a bus. Don't even think about walking to the Alhambra. It's 3 miles up a steep road. There's a nice looking restaurant next to the hotel. Also there's a modest looking restaurant (Forteleza sp?) just up from the hotel. Hotel reception spoke English and was helpful. Free internet in lobby (slow and fussy) and free room safe. My rate did not include breakfast (10 euros).

Traveller's tip

I liked Bodegas Castaneda just off Plaza Nueva on Calle Almireceros for beer and tapas. Also liked the pastries and coffee at Pasteleria Olympia on Gran Via de Colon across from Banco de Espana.

“OK if you have a car”

The hotel is ultra-modern and lacking in charm. Cold, sterile feel. Service was spotty though never unfriendly (unstaffed bar, one person at reception with 8 guests lined up). Because we had a car and did not care to navigate Granada's narrow and tricky streets, this hotel suited us well for a 2 night stay. A 10 euro taxi ride or a 1.5 euro bus ride (convenient stops near hotel) got us to Albaycin, Plaza Nueva, etc. We are walkers, but it would be a challenging and not terribly charming walk UP to the Alhambra; 5 euros for a taxi to the entrance.

“Good location for Alhambra, but far from the city center.”

The hotel was completely acceptable in every way. The only issue is that it is a bit outside the city center. There is nothing around it. But the bus service is often and convenient. Unfortunately the day we arrived there was a bicycle race though and buses were severely impacted. We waited over 30 minutes at the bus stop to get to Alhambra - we could have walked in that time! The next day bus service was much better. While everything was fine, I would have preferred to be much more centrally located. But the value of this hotel made it worth it really. In the off season (or with more effort) I am sure one could find something as good or better more central though.

Traveller's tip

When visiting Alhambra know that once you enter the gates and they scan your ticket, you aren't free to do as you please. Your time on the ticket is not just for entry to the territory, it is actually for entry to the palace. Don't enjoy the grounds - go directly to the palace. Enjoy the grounds later - they will deny you entry if not at the palace at the time on your ticket.
