“San Gabriel, above Granada, is quite nice”
It's inexpensive. It's on a mountain, with fab views, a giant pool, accomodating staff. Those who claim that the road down the mountain has too many 'S' curves, or that it's about 1.8 kilometers from the town... then book in town! I and my guests walked down each day... we took a path off the to the right once you walk onto the road. It bypasses the S curves. It's stunningly beautiful. Quiet. Gorgeous flowers. You get a taxi for 7 euros one way, too. I like the place.
“Relatively clean, but super run down”
I had studied abroad in Granada and chose this hotel because it was near my former host family's house in the Cartuja area. Most three star hotels in Spain are phenomenal, but this fell a little short. While our room was clean, you could tell the hotel was very old...there was rust around the bathtub, the shower curtain rod continually fell down, and the walls were incredibly thin. The service was good and the people at the front desk were very willing to help by calling taxis for you, etc., although the one morning they did not deliver our wake-up call. Overall, it wasn't a horrible stay, but it certainly wasn't pleasant enough to make me want to book there again.
