Backed by the Golfito Wildlife Refuge and fronting Golfito Bay, the port city of Golfito is the center for banking, medical care, and government services along the southern Pacific Coast. Frequent ferries cross the Golfo Dulce from Golfito to Puerto Jimenez, on the Osa Peninsula. The city boasts a couple of upscale marinas; and tourism in the area is geared primarily toward sports fishing.
