Nice Hotel, beautiful surroundings.Posted 12/10/2013
We've been here before, and we love it except this time we were it impressed with the food. They need more selections. But the dish I ordered had a chicken breast that was only half cooked. I had to send it back. The Long Island iced tea I had was I thought over priced. It was $11.00. The room wasn't as clean as it should be. The table with the Kurig machine on it, still had leftover sugar spilt on it from last time and it was dusty. Therefore the coffee mugs were dusty around the brim when I turned them over. The plug in the bathroom didn't work. I had to use the plug in the room area which made it difficult to see and no table to put stuff on. Also, the bathrooms really need a fan in them. While taking a shower or just simply using the toilet. We were there for our anniversary and were pretty disappointed. I do love the fall time of the year to go and it is a beautiful area. I just hope they make a few changes.

Great fall walking trailsPosted 11/10/2013
Pros: Old country Inn -all amenities on-site -wasn't a cookie cutter hotel.
Location: Close to the beach, parks, conservation areas, trails, Bayfield, Goderich etc.
Great bed, slept like a babe. Staff were very accomodating & pleased to serve you. The food is outstanding. The staff went out of their way for one older lady who had dietary concerns.

Relaxing Weekend RetreatPosted 09/09/2013
Pros: Atmosphere and character of the decor Comfortable beds Pool and spa area Outdoor surroundings Quality of the food in the dining room
Cons: Have a tea kettle in the room for making tea rather than using the Keurig coffee maker.
Location: The nearby Town of Goderich lives up to it's "Prettiest Town in Canada" slogan. Excellent dining around the square, nice boardwalk along the beach.
We stayed at Benmiller Inn and Spa to get a weekend away to celebrate our 10th anniversary. We were impressed with the unique layout and character of the inn buildings and rooms, which have been converted from historic mills. We enjoyed the photos and information detailing the rich history of the inn and the town of Benmiller that are found throughout the inn buildings. The outdoor surroundings are beautiful and peaceful, and the sights were spectacular. We enjoyed some of the spa services, and used the pool and spa area which was clean and maintained. The sound of water from the river and stream helps create a relaxing atmosphere. The Sunday brunch was filled with a variety of well prepared fresh food, and was very tasty. Service from all staff was friendly and helpful, including check in/out, spa professionals, and dining staff. The room was spacious and comfortably outfitted. The king size bed and linens were very comfortable. We definitely recommend to anyone looking for a getaway to a place where you can relax and rejuvenate. Benmiller Inn does not disappoint.

Getting down and outPosted 20/08/2013 on Hotels.com
Had heard great things about the Benmiller in the past, but think it's really starting to show its age. Suspect it was the original wallpaper in the bathroom, and it was torn and tattered. Bathroom plug did not work; floor lamp in the bedroom was connected to a plug that would not work. Would have to think long and hard whether we would stay there again - especially at their rates.

Too bad because a few years ago it was great!Posted 19/02/2013
Pros: The restaurant is beautiful and the food was magnificent
Cons: The Mill House in in need of repairs and sufferes from lack of upkeep!
The pool and hot tub need repairs! The hot tub was dirty and parts of the ceramic tile were missing or attempted to be patched. In our room there was a curtain missing on one of the windows, one window the screen was gone and the curtain on that window was dirty. There was some sort of pest control device plugged into the wall? We had to ask for a new comforter because there was blood on the one on the bed when we arrived.

Benmiller Inn & Spa - a great retreat spotPosted 12/11/2012
Pros: Love the location!
Visited the Benmiller for the first time this past weekend, for a Girls Getaway with some friends. We had an excellent stay. We were in the Glenmiller Building, 2nd floor, overlooking the Millpond at the building's edge - serene! Thoroughly enjoyed the Inn's cuisine (we ate both dinner and lunch at the main dining hall) as well as the hot tub/pool/sauna. During the day we set off on the network of hiking trails right by the lodge... excellent. All in all, a wonderful getaway from the city. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay, would book another stay again (and likely will). Recommended.

"Okay" but certainly nothing to write home about.Posted 04/09/2012
I want to preface this review by stating that we were not expecting some 5 star resort. We understand this is an old fashioned country inn. We knew that this region had been hit by a recent tornado and river water levels were very low. Plus, bridge construction is taking place right outside of the Benmiller Inn. None of these things can be helped obviously and do not affect my review. We were in a room in a nearby building, Gledhill House. Very interesting history. The room had a king sized bed, and was very comfortable. We were on the main floor and there was a tiny patio with two chairs so we could sit outdoors. The place has a certain charm, that's for sure. The staff, however, were really pretty poor. A couple of ladies "man" the front desk. They weren't particular pleasant on check-in, nor were they efficient on check-out. The housekeeping staff took the tip we left out but did not do any housekeeping. We couldn't see any evidence of anyone being in the room except that the money was gone and we had an additional bottle of shampoo. The garbages weren't emptied and the coffee wasn't replenished. We had breakfast in the dining room. It is buffet style and I must say that the young hostess/server was very pleasant and helpful. The food was so-so but not overly expensive either (approx $13 per person). All in all, it was an "okay" experience but we were left feeling a bit disappointed and probably will not stay here again when in this part of Ontario.
