“Loved it.”

The location was handy to everything in central Florence. Our room looked out onto the wonderful courtyard/garden in the back of the hotel. A pleasant surprise as you wouldn't guess it was there. Breakfast, included with the room rate, offered many choices and was plentiful. Staff was helpful. Chambermaids were thorough. Hotel carpets are due for a cleaning or replacement - but that was a minor matter in the overall picture.

“Good location”

Hotel is in a good location, good breakfast. They can do better for the cleaniness of the room. Not bad. Don't expect 4 star quality in this hotel. Everything is in walkable distance. Staff is not friendly but not rude.

“standard quality with reasonable price”

We stayed the hotel on 28th & 29th May with a very reasonable price including breakfast. The roome was quite clean and big enough for two persons. The cleanliness of the private bathroom is acceptable. The location is good and is close to the train station. Overall, it did meet our expectation. But I'd recommend people to request garden view which is much more quiet. We slept the 2nd floor on the 1st night and couldn't sleep well because we didn't make such request. We even heard people talking in the street. The staff was nice and helpful. He changed the room for us on the 2nd night. We enjoyed the breakfast in the morning before our journey.

“It did the job”

As we only had 3 nights experience to go on, the hotel may have had extra things available that we didn't get around to trying. It is basic hotel, but that is what we were after. The bathroom was rather cramped but not a problem. Airconditioning in the room was greatly appreciated. There was an acceptable buffet breakfast but we had to eat out for other meals, again not a problem as Florence is awash with places to eat, even for veggies. The day staff at reception spoke English and were helpful, printing off train times and phoning taxis for us. There is a secluded garden at the back which was very nice to sit in and escape the bustle of the city. The hotel is in a convenient position, within easy walking distance of the tourist sights and the main station. The airport is about 15 minutes away by taxi. It is a basic hotel but it did the job, has a nice garden, and is in a convenient position, so we give it 4 out of 5 overall. We would stay there again.

“Just a little below average 3 star”

The hotel location was good for me as it was few minutes walk from station and the conference centre. The room was very basic and first two nights they did not turn on the AC. In general, this hotel was below an average three star hotel in the UK, one can get in the same price range.

“Reasonable for a city stay”

Hotel easy to find. 10 minutes walk from station. Reception very helpful. Bedding and bathrooms very clean. Lovely white crisp sheets. No hairdryer in room and no added extras ie no tissues. Towels were like bed sheets. Fine for me but one friend would have preferred one made from towelling Breakfasts good and filling. Hotel reception well decorated, rest of hotel needed an uplift.

“OK Hotel...”

My friends and I stayed here for two nights, which worked out well because the location of the hotel is great in relation to many of the important sights in Florence. Also, the price was right! However, the bedroom was not as comfortable as we would have liked, and the bathroom was not as clean or as comfortable as we were hoping. Hotel Castri is great if you only plan on staying for a couple of nights; if you plan on staying more than that, you probably will want to spend a little more to upgrade to a better hotel.

“A mixed bag, could be much better with little effort”

Real mixed feelings on this one,on the plus side- an excellent location, beautiful garden and building (always ask for room with garden view, you will see the duomo from your room) friendly reception staff and a clean and comfortable bed for reasonable rates. really let themselves down on decor, very sparse rooms with old broken 1970s furniture, dirty paintwork, worn carpets, tiny toilet/shower rooms with barely adequate shower pressure, looked grotty but kept clean daily. breakfast service basic, bit of a school kitchen feel but an ok start to the day.a good basic base from which to explore a great city but not recommended for honeymooners as we were!

“good location, noisy”

Hotel was clean, service friendly. Good location just off the sites and city center. Noisy on the weekend.

“Not impressed”

I've stayed in typical european hotels before and this is typical in the small room. The bathroom was extremely uncomfortable. The toilet was cornered between the wall, the door and the sink, making it next to impossible to get in. On the plus, the water was hot. I was in an inner room which had a view of the garden.
