The largest island of the Ang Thong National Marine Park, Koh Samui has enough natural beauty to please even the most experienced traveller. Known as a veritable paradise for diving enthusiasts, this lush island also boasts a number of alternative activities like festive full moon parties, relaxing spas and exciting parasailing. Although this locale was once a quiet spot, tourism has begun to steadily increase, so finding cheap flights to Koh Samui has become an easy process.

Best time to go to Koh Samui

    Peak Season:

The demand for flights to Koh Samui increases during the peak season, December to February, as tourists flee the colder weather in order to bask in the warmth of this locale. Though this island is relatively warm during these months, the climate can also be very rainy. Despite that fact, the moisture in the air does not deter most tourists, as this fantastic spot is beautiful rain or shine.

    Shoulder Season:

The driest months in Koh Samui, February through to April, make up the shoulder season. Although the weather during these months is dry and warm, the island sees a lull in tourism and because of this, flights tend to be a little cheaper than usual. Despite the lack of tourists, this is still a great time to go as you will be able to explore some of the more popular local attractions, like the Butterfly Farm, the Samui stadium, or the Wat Kiri Wongkaram temple, in relative solitude.

    Off Season:

The off season in Koh Samui lasts from May to October. Unlike many other parts of Thailand, this location sees relatively dry weather during this period, making it a great time for tourists to play in the beautiful sand, go for a banana boat ride, or celebrate the Visakah Puja with the locals in May.

Koh Samui Airport and transfer information

    Samui International Airport (USM)
Distance: 2km north from the main village of Chaweng
Ground transport from this airport is limited but easily accessible. The airport minibus is economical, convenient and quick, taking only 20 minutes to arrive in the island's main village. Alternatively, you can rent a private car or take a taxi, though these options are pricier.
