Peak Season:
From December to January the city sees its peak season. These months are pleasant in terms of climate, but are packed with both locals and tourists taking part in the Christmas and New Years celebrations. Unless you book well in advance, this is a difficult time to find cheap flights to Canberra.
Shoulder Season:
While most tourists are gearing up for the holidays, the adventurous visitor will take advantage of the pleasant climate and the inexpensive flights to Canberra from September through November. Although tourists are few during this period, it is still a great time to go, as you will be able to stroll round Lake Burley Griffin or explore the National Gallery in peace.
Off Season:

Distance: 9.5km east of city centre
Hired and rented cars, taxis and buses are all available from this airport. It takes between 10 and 15 minutes to arrive with a car or taxi, but these options can be a bit pricey for the budget traveller. Buses can take up to 25 minutes, but are much cheaper.
