About Bali

Although Bali may be small in size, it is big in character. Known for its stunning beaches, beautiful views and vast array of cultural activities, this location is a favourite among travellers looking for something a bit more exotic. Considering the popularity of this spot, it is no surprise to find that the local airport has flights coming in from all over the world, making it is easy to find cheap flights to Bali if you are willing to take a more indirect route.

Best time to go to Bali

Peak Season:

Tourists abound between the months of June and September, but are especially prevalent during July and August. This is largely due to the warm weather and low humidity, which makes beach dwelling and island tours so beautiful. Local schools are also out during certain parts of this season, making it easier to mingle with the fun and fascinating locals.

Shoulder Season:

Bali's shoulder season, which falls between April and May, is a great time to find inexpensive flights as there are fewer tourists hanging out on the island. Because of this it is much easier to explore the vast natural beauty of Bali, witness the stunning dance performances and ceremonies or simply indulge in one of the many spa activities, all provided of course, that you enjoy the occasional bit of rain.

Off Season:

If you don't mind humidity, the wet season is a great time to travel to this beautiful island. Not only is it easy to find cheap flights between the months of October and March, but there are also fewer crowds and plenty of activities. Although humidity may be high during the majority of this season, hard rains do not begin until December or January, leaving plenty of time to enjoy the beaches and lush vegetation if you arrive early in the off season.

Bali Airport and transfer information

Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS)
Distance: 13km south of Denpasar
Compared to other countries, taxi services and car rentals are reasonably cheap in Bali. By taxi or car, the trip to Denpasar is a fairly short half hour drive. Bus rides are also an option, but may take up to an hour to arrive in the centre of Denpasar, and can be complicated for those who are unfamiliar with the island.
