“Works just fine”

This is one of the nicer htoels in the Arcata area, especially for the price. Everything was fine, breakfast was good. A good choice if just needing a place to stay.

“Not awful/Not great”

Arcata is a tough place to find a great place to stay. This hotel was okay. It's located next to an RV park and that attracts alot of undesirable people to the area. There aren't a lot of options for food right near the hotel. There are better places to stay in Eureka.

“not bad not good. Great people, room not too clean.”

The people were very nice. The room wasn't very clean. Great location for getting around Humblodt county. Lots of outdoor beauty around.

“Good enough”

The Hotel was decent, but the heater in the room was very old and did not work as expected, sometimes it would make the room too stuffy and sometimes it would make it too cold. The room was fairly clean and the bed was comfortable, I guess I can't expect much more for the price I got it for. All in all a very decent place with friendly staff. Very cool location for the Redwoods though. If I were to explore the Redwoods again I would definitely stay here again.

“Not Impressed”

One of two rooms lacked batteries in the TV remote, drain in tub was missing and this room was not adjacent to other room as had been requested. Hotel receptionist changed room request on own initiative which made original request unavailable.

“Decent for an over-night stay.”

As we simply needed a hotel to stay in overnight that was near to the highway and not too expensive we were satisfied with this room. The room was clean & comfortable enough and the location was easy to access from the highway.

“Decent hotel for area”

Given the location, it's an okay hotel. Check in was easy, room smelled like smoke although it was a non-smoking room. The staff was friendly.

“You definitely need to renovate.”

When we checked in we had to leave the window open all the way for quite a while even though it was cold and raining because the room smelled musty. Then when we closed the window, we had to turn on the heat and that gave a musty smell too. So once again the window needed to be opened. I guess the room had not been rented in a while, so my suggestion is to have your housekeeping department air out the rooms from time to time. Another thing is that the wall paper was peeling in the bathroom, so your maintenance department should fix it. Plus the pea green bedspread looked like something from the seventies. While the room was clean, it definitely looks like it has not been renovated in 40 years. The owner and management need to discuss renovating. The next time I go up to visit my mother, I will be willing to spend a little bit more to stay at the Holiday Inn Express.

“Not impressed”

This was not what we were expecting. The hotel staff was very nice and helpful, however the rooms and building were substandard. The hotel is very old and is in need of updating. The hallways smell of smoke even though the buidling is non-smoking. The rooms smell old and musty. While the room was clean the furniture was old and not secure. The lamps were not secure and one of the lights had a short. The doors to the hallways do not lock at night so anyone can come in the hallways. No key is needed to enter the building after hours even though the lobby closes and locks at 10:00. We will not stay here again.

“Not impressed!!”

We requested a non-smoking room, little did we know that there was a non-smoking room in a smoking section!! We had a non-smoking room but still could smell the smoke!! Having our new born baby with us I was NOT impressed and very unhappy. Also, there was other peoples hair every where, on the sheets and in the bath room. I wont be staying here again!!!
