“Okay, but not a vacation type place”
The motel was clean and service was good, but the location was much further out than I expected and it was an industrial area, with little in the way of family restaurants or shopping. For the price, it wasn't a particularly good value. My door showed dents and a one-time forced entry and there was no chain or deadbolt lock, which gave me pause as to the security of the room, but I experienced no problems first-hand. I wouldn't recommend this to a single female traveler or family with young kids, but it was okay for the "overnight on your way to somewhere else" room.
The "Hilton" it's not, but you're not paying "Hilton" prices either. I had an early flight out of Eugene and needed a place close by to relax and sleep. The "Royal Inn" filled my need, less than 5 miles to the airport. Close by places to eat also. Will stay there again should the need arise.
“Disappointing but friendly.”
We were in town for the Eugene Marathon and booked too late so all of the recommended hotels were at capacity. We found the Eugene Inn and it looked close to the Hilton where the Expo Center was so we booked it. We didn't expect a 5 Diamond resort but were disappinted to find that it was a Motel and wasn't even where we thought it was. We followed our MapQuest directions and couldn't find the Royal Inn. We called the front desk the agent was very nice and told us where to go and that it was about 3 miles farther than we thought. 3 miles isn't far, but it's the difference between driving and walking distance to where we were going. The place just didn't seem safe. The room was clean but it is an older place so it didn't feel clean...although I do believe that the cleaning staff does a good job (that being said there were 3 long black hairs on my "clean" towel). The walls are this awful turquoise color and the room is very "dark. We ended up taking all of our stuff and sleeping at our friends hotel on the pull out couch :( The next morning after the race we did come back and take a shower and although they thought we already checked out (since the bed wasn't touched and none of our belongings were there)and had started to clean the room they were kind enough to let us back in and shower up before driving home. Everyone was super nice and professional, just personally not a great place to get a good nights sleep before a marathon!
