“Hip, Classy, Comfortable!!”
Loved every minute of it! Very nice staff, love the valet parking especially in the cold, very soundproof rooms, and no noise crept in from the busy Ave. Very close to everything you could need.
“Good hotel in an interesting neighbourhood”
We spent six nights at the Metterra in October, and our stay was enjoyable and hassle-free. There are lots of interesting stores, restaurants, and coffee shops on and adjacent to Whyte Avenue, and the 25-minute walk (or #4 bus) to the U. of Alberta and the light rail system was pleasant. We also enjoyed walking across the High Level Bridge to downtown. The Metterra staff was courteous and helpful, and the breakfast (included) was above average in variety and quality. If you are a light sleeper, I suggest asking for a room at the rear of the hotel on an upper floor, as Whyte Ave. can be active, especially on weekends. We did not have a car with us, and I note that nearly all the complaints on this website about the Metterra have to do with the parking situation. We have no complaints, and recommend this hotel to those seeking a mid-priced and comfortable base in Edmonton. I know we will be back.
“Great!”
Stylish and comfy!
“Excellent hotel, will stay again”
Great hotel, surrounded by many choices of restraurants, shops, bar, pretty much everything you can think of. Valet parking is convenient, didnt get a chance to try out the breakfast/wine & cheese tasting. The bathroom is spacious, I have to try out the jetted tub for sure, next time.Very comfortable place to stay.
“Very Impressive Place!”
Spent a total of 3 nights at the Metterra in July. Couldn't have been more pleased with the hotel. Very clean, very comfortable and very helpful staff! Excellent complimentary breakfast, and wine tasting in the evenings. The hotel is very accessible to restaurants and shopping. Self parking is a breeze across the street in a very secure lot.
“What a great place to stay !!!”
You are in walking distance to a variety of restaurants and pubs. I was in the theme room "air" and had a HUGE patio. Bed was very comfortable. There was a separate living room area. Bathroom is big, well lighted, and had a huge bathtub, very deep and long. Front desk very helpful. Construction on the street in front of the hotel kind of a drag, but it's about a 10 second walk to the corner where a car can pick you up, or a taxi, etc. The porter also waits there to help you with your bags. This is a very cool "funky" area of Edmonton. Wine tasting in the afternoon (free) with cheese and olives and crackers. They were a little skimpy on the wine tho, just 2 small glasses of a taste for sure. I chose to walk to a liquor store and get my own bottle instead for the 3 nights I was there. I will definately stay there my next trip, be it for business or pleasure !
“Great Stay”
Really prompt and friendly at the front desk at check in. The room was really spacious; I stayed in the Water Room. Bed was really comfortable, sheets and comforter crisp and clean. I didn't use the valet service but I would imagine it might be a hassle. I am a smoker and had to stand out front of the building on a busy street to have a cigarrette. It would be nice if the hotel had a smoking area out back for guests?! I had room service from Chanti, really good pasta. I would definatly stay again.
“Comfortable stay in great location”
Nicely renovated hotel on trendy Whyte Ave. We stayed in an Air Studio with our 19 month old son. The layout was great. Could put the baby to bed in the living room and still read in the bedroom. The areas aren't completely separated, but much better than the average hotel room. A large mini-fridge was also great for storing milk. Lots of shopping and restaurants nearby.
“Great Hotel, Great Location”
Busy Whyte Ave, yet quiet, and clean hotel. Hotel decor is modern and looks like new. Staff are young and friendly. Valet parking is free. Breakfast is included and offers a great selection of bread, bagels, croissants and other pastry (whole grains as well), 4 cold cereals again 2 choices of whole grains, fruit and plain yogurt, cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, fruit, milk , juice, etc. Coffee is great and individual coffee maker is there if you prefer a specialty coffee.
“Pros and Cons”
Pros: It is on Whyte Ave so there is lots to do. Everything is quite close. It was one of the cleanest hotels I have ever stayed at. Breakfast was not that great nor terrible. Cons: (1)Very noisy because it is on Whyte Ave. Tried to go to bed at 12am and because it was so noisy. I could not sleep til 4am. Hotel had ear plugs in their drawer but the package was open so that was weird. (2) Parking is quite a walk if you wanted to self park of course. I got a ticket there because apparently I was parked in two stalls but the lines in the parkade are not clearly marked. Anyways, it is quite a beautiful hotel and is close to everything so if you are a younger crowd trying to have a good time, this will be great but if you have a business meeting or something, be prepared to spend most of your night awake. Overall, a comfortable, clean, modern hotel therefore I would recommend it.
