The couple who run the hotel are really nice felt sorry for them as the had a leek over the breakfast room so could not supply breakfast overall a very good stay would use again

A little bit far from the center of Edinburgh but the bus is in front of the hotel driving you there. Breakfast starts only at 8:00am which was unfortunate for me because I had to leave at 7:30am every morning. Lastly, it is a little inconvenient that there is no one from the hotel past 9:30pm and before 8:00am because I was leaving before someone arrived and coming back after 9:30pm and had something to ask for the room and could never ask because I saw no one.

Hotel is about a 10min bus ride or 30im walk into the centre so location was good. There are shops and a Tesco within a 5min walk. My room was a good size but much in need of a make over. The tiny TV was a funny colour, not very clear. The bed was comfy, but would be good to have another pillow. Room temp was fine. The bathroom was tiny, but for one person was fine (I had a single room). It was pretty clean. The breakfast was basic (no cooked breakfast) but was enough for me. The host wasn't the friendliest person. It was good they held my bag for me until check in though.

Could be better
I was disappointed with the general cleanliness of the room. I looked behind the bedside cabinet on which the kettle and coffee etc was located and there was a coffee satchet and serviette behind there on the floor and the skirting boards look like they're in need of a good clean. There were no cups to make coffee in. However the bed was comfy enough and the linen was clean. The shower was good but the wash basin was very small and I struggled to find room for razor and shaving soap. I was very disappointed with breakfast. Partly my fault for not reading the hotel literature but it is a continental breakfast only, which isn't usually too bad when you have the choice of meats etc but this was limited to processed cheese slices. Luckily I like these and they did serve a rack of toast. Whilst in breakfast another guest asked for some water to add to her tea only to be told that there's some on the servery outside of the breakfast room! (reminiscent of Fawlty Towers). I was on my own on a business trip so it served its purpose and was reasonably cheap but I won't be rushing back.

Ok ish
The room was nice and tidy and spacious however the window whistles throughout the night with a draft and the only tap for drinking water is from the bathroom sink , water tasted chlorinated and had to buy bottled water , when I complained about it I got a frosty reply and attitude from the owner , it’s close to the town so good location and room was cheaply priced but wouldn’t stay here again

Basically a nice, clean, comfortable place - specially appreciated the reasonably-priced en suite room. One or two small things - they could do with some sound-proofing in the bathroom areas, as they are right next to the bed area in the next room and very noisy when in use; also Room 7 where I was is right opposite the top of the stairs so you get everybody going past all the time and there is a very squeaky floorboard right there, so maybe best avoided. (Specially as there was one guy going out at 6.30 am every day!) Generally good value and very clean.

A guest house on a very nice street. I would not call it a hotel by any means. The gentleman who checked me in was abrupt and not particularly friendly. I was checked into the room right next to the office. Goog god was it loud. All day and night I heard the people in the office, guests coming ang going, asking questions at the front desk, going to the contential breakfast adjacent to my room, and ringing the door bell at all hours. Every time the door bell rand it woke me up. It was ungodly loud. Another major problem was the WIFI. Every night around 9pm or so it would cut off. My device said “restart router” which of course there was mikes away we’re out of the question after 9pm. They NEED to fix this issue. The room itself was clean, but barebones. Marginal beds, basic nightstands, no other furnishings, narrow bathroom, with a tiny standup shower. Recommend elsewhere.

Im sorry you thought the Gentleman who checked you in was abrupt with you. We ask all guests to pay on arrival and not on check out. As mentioned we pre authorise all bookings for the 1st night, this is not a payment. We are having connection problems due to works being carried out on the street as mentioned to you. We will look into the door bell issue you mentioned.

Small but cozy single bed room with private shower/toilet. Coffee/tea in room, TV. Continental breakfast has toasts, fruit, muffins, cheese, yogurt, cereal. Make sure you check in between 2pm and 9pm otherwise there will not be any staff in the front desk. Overall nice affordable room in an area close to attractions.

Not recommended...
First of all I am sure that I booked room with private bathroom. But we get room with shared bathroom. Condition of whole place was very poor. Bed was making sounds with every move. Bathrooms were kind of dirty. You couldn't close the door wirhout loudly banging them. Stuff unfriendly. I wouldn't recommend. Too expensive for this kind of poor quality.

Safe area I believe. Nice couple who run it, and take security seriously. And the girl who helps with Breakie is extra cute. Bus stop right outside. #25 gets to Princess Street in about 10 mins. Lovely common opposite. I could have spent all day patting dogs. Future trips to Edinburgh I'll be staying there, (including for the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo) Peace.

Don't believe that this place was advertised as share facilities. We had to share with one other room and our travel companions had 2 bathrooms to share between 3 rooms. Not my class of accommodation, John!

Had to pay in cash ATM machine 5 blocks away, 9:00pm with 2 small children to get the cash! NO PARKING available! Hard lumpy beds and pillows! MOUSE IN BATHROOM! IT WAS TERRIBLE! On a good note the lady let us put our bags in the room before our long walk for cash!

we did send you an email about our card machines being out of order, the ATM Machine is a 2 minute walk to tescos, after calling in Rentokil there was no signs of any mouse and they gave us a clean bill of health. I think you are just upset as you had to go to the ATM.

A very nice and comfort hotel
I had a great 3 nights in merith hotel.They are very kind , the room get cleaned and organised every day perfectly as well as the toilet.The hotel Location was good. I only wishe if the wifi was with more stronger signal in my room. However, that is nothing beside the comfort I felt in Merith hotel.
