“Phenomenal Hotel in Dubai”

I have traveled all over the world, and this hotel rates as one of my two favorite in the world (the other one being the hotel at the Hong Kong Airport.) This hotel led right into the Mall of the Emirates. It was exceptionally clean, the staff called us by name during our entire stay, it was very comfortable and relaxing. The beds were exceptionally comfortable. The bathrooms were large and relaxing. The shower is the nicest I have ever been in my entire life, and as I said, I have traveled to all 7 continents. I had an extra traveler that I was not expecting when I made the reservation, and Expedia upgraded us to VIP status, which I appreciate from Expedia. It was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this hotel to any and all travelers to Dubai. I will definitely be staying at this hotel again when I travel back to Dubai.

Area recommendations

Oh, wow. I would recommend the Global Village, the Mall at the Emirates, and the Gold Souk area for fun shopping. We did not have time to go to the beaches, but they looked wonderful. The Dubai Mall was also fun and interesting. It is the largest mall in the world, is next to the tallest building in the world, and has the dancing water fountain, which is a must to experience. We only had one night in Dubai, but I wish it were longer. Three days is probably a good time to be there just for Dubai.

“Amazing hotel but no where walkable except the Mall of the Emirates”

The hotel is exceptional in terms of service, design, layout (we had a corner suite) and amenities. The only downside is that aside from being connected to the Mall of the Emirates, it is not really convenient to anything else in Dubai. There is a metro stop on the other side of the mall from the Kempinski, but besides that it takes at least 15 minutes by taxi to get to any of the other major attractions. Between the hotel's facilities and the mall, however, one could find myriad shopping, entertainment and dining options (but nothing culturally distinctive). Spa was surprising mediocre for the expense / otherwise outstanding amenities of the Kempinski. Nice place to relax and shop.

Family-friendly activities

Mall of the Emirates is home of Ski Dubai, and indoor ski slope and snow wonderland in the desert city. It also has an indoor arcade with amusement park rides, as well as a movie theater.

Whats good about the hotel is the location within Mall of the Emirates. The mall food court is yours, and they do have a great selection of restaurants.

“Great shopping mall next to it!”

Hotel was nice. The bed was to soft, and I woke up with a lower backache the next morning. The room was clean. Staff were helpful. One of the bathrobes had several bad stains on it....like someone colored their hair and the color ended up on the top of the bathrobe. This was not very nice to see. The hallways have seen better days.....normal wear and tear. The location was great as it is attached to Mall of the Emirates, so worth the extra money to stay there.

Area recommendations

Gosh this is hard to say. There are many areas that are great. I personally would stay in the areas on the Burj Dubai side of the 'creek'. Many of your shopping malls are located on Sheik Zayed road such as the Mall of the Emirates and the Dubai Mall (huge one!!). The major hotels are on this road too, and the metro is on the same road for easy access. Festival city is nice, but a bit far out from the other areas. Taxis are always available in Dubai no matter where you are.

When to go

Cheaper hotels in the heat of the summer, but sometimes hard to find a reservation as the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) kicks in on June 22, so loads of Middleast travelers go there to hit the sales!

Getting around

Metro is great, tried it for the first time. Went with the Gold Class, but the regular is fine too. I think in the fall the second line maybe opening up. Taxis are everywhere! If you rent a car, you may want to pick up some 1 dhs coins to take with you, as the parking fees are about 4 dhs or 5dhs/hr (I think...but to be on the safe side, get some coins...at least 10 of them to start with...you can buy the parking cards, but I can't remember where you can get them)

Must see

I would recommend the Dubai City tour on the doubledecker buses. Of course in the summer it is going to be hot, although they do have some buses with AC in the upper deck. You can hop on and hop off this tour. Also the dinner cruises are nice in the evening on Dubai Creek. In the cooler seasons the Desert Safari (dune bashing with the 4 wheel drive vehicles) is fun....but take some Dramamine if you get car sick or don't go on fast moving rides.....up and over those sand dunes is fun, but a bit scary too! The hot air balloon ride is lovely too...early in the morning trip was wonderful...again only available in the cooler season.

Shopping

Oh my.....there is so much shopping to do in Dubai...where does one begin?? Well Mall of the Emirates is a great start....the rest of the Malls basically have the same stores. Dubai Mall is also outstanding too...again the same stores for the most part, except they have a fabulous huge book store if you are a bookaholic (Kinokuniya....one of the biggest bookstores in the area...by far!!!) In Dubai Mall they have a huge selection of fast food stores, even Taco Bell is there for those of you who are addicts to a cheap, good taco!!! Both these malls have huge cinemas...so if your partner is shopping, you can enjoy a movie!! Festival City is another great shopping adventure with cinemas and great fast food plus lovely sit in restaurants too.

Dining

I don't think there is a BAD place to eat in Dubai!!! The food types are from all over the world...whether you like Indian, European, American Steaks, South African, Asian etc....you name it.... Dubai has it!!!

“Great”

Elegant and stylish. I liked the location I stayed in (right in Mall of the Emirates) because the mall basically has most of my needs; a wide variety of shops, restaurants, and even indoor ski! I have experienced one flaw though- I have lost personal possession (outside the hotel in taxi) the night before my return. While the hotel was pretty cooperative, they did not call me or update me about what happened to the case, and I had to contact them a few days. Other than that, it is a great hotel on a great spot, and I recommend it.

“Excellent stay!”

“Luxorious Experience”

The welcoming at the hotel was fantastic. Everyone was very nice and humble. The hotel was very crouded due to the season of Dubai Festival, despite that every staff member knew what exactly to do and to it with a smile. The hotel was well organized, clean, and the service was perfect.
