“Don't book directly”

I previously lived in this region of the world for 20 years so I know my way around Dubai. When I go looking for a Hotel I am not after the glitz that first timers might be. The Golden Sands are no-nonsense. So I have stayed at the Golden Sands a number of times. The staff is helpful, rooms and building clean and overall a good value. The location is good with shopping and entertainment near by, within walking distance. Avoid using the Hotel taxi service as they are expensive and the area is teaming with metered taxi. Best advise is to book through the likes of Expedia and not directly with the Hotel.

“Golden Sands Hotel Dubai”

Hotel very basic but very well located. It was showing its age but one could not complian for the price. Access the the Bujaman Mall and Spinney's supermarket was a great plus. For the price, the hotel was good value. Please note that there are several Golden Sands Hotels in the vicinity and when confriming a booking it would be handy to specify the number of the Golden Sands Hotel your room is booked. This helps the taxi drivers find the place.

“Great place to get to see Dubai at a reasonable price”

Good location, very clean comfortable self contained unit. Staff very helpful with a very professional and friendly booking agent in foyer to help you book day trips etc, free internet use in business centre, great place.

“excellent choice, Golden sands Hotel no. 3”

We felt excellent during our 3 days stay at Golden Sands no.3. Very friendly staff, excellent service, very clean. Will strongly recommend it to all our friends for Dubai as price/location/service.

“I kicked myself when I arrived.... Two Stars”

My second time in Dubai You can get a lot better hotels for the same price. Its way North of Dubai, the map is not accurate. The hotel/appt is very old. Like from 1980's. It was more like Sri Lanka or a nice indian hotel. Staff were nice and helpful. You can get a 1 year old hotel for an extra ten bucks. I would do it. Its like 2 stars.

“Great value for the money u pay.... You get all you need for a pleasant stay in Dubai without luxury”

Quite comfortable and more importantly you get what you pay for. All you need for a pleasant stay in Dubai without the unneeded luxury. Calm environment, clean place and good service. Been traveling in and out of Dubai for more than 17 years and used several luxury hotels that I pay a big bucks for facilities and luxury that I never used. Golden sands, gives u all u need and the price is amazing.

“Good hotel in a rather dull neighbourhood”

I was very impressed that I was allowed to occupy the room even though I arrived at 7.00 am. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was enjoyable, although lacking some choices, for example, there was no muesli, and naturally no bacon. The gym was well equipped and the swimming pool adequate. The neighbourhood is quiet and residential, but is lacking in shops and any interesting street life. It is about a kilometre walk to restaurants, and a couple of kilometres to the river in the old city. Also a kilometre to the nearest metro rail station, although a closer one looks to be under construction. Half a kilometre to the nearest alcohol venue. I enjoyed my stay there and would recommend the hotel.

Closer to the old city, to be able to walk easiy to shops and restaurants.

Getting around

Careful about planning anything on Friday mornings in Dubai. The metro rail stations, and most shops and restaurants and closed until 1 pm.
