"Overall we gave a 4 out of 5. 1. Room - On the first evening, our superior room air condition/AC was not working and we had ants in the room. We spent few hrs trying to get this issue sorted and then the duty manager Elia gave us an upgrade to a club room. The views from our previous room were spectacular, the club room view was not that good and we could see the large metal roof of from our balcony. We accepted this, as the hotel was full. "Big hotel. Big rooms. Great pools. Modern, with conference style feel. Remarkable buffet, no need to go up the road and pay extra. Chocolate fountain on two nights. No decaff tea - go next door to the cliff after dinner for that. VidaMar suited us as a great base (we didn’t rent a car), we used bus or booked trips. The ‘west’ jeep discovery tour is a must. Plus all the other go-to places. Walk to Camera de Lobos and get the bus back. Madeira exceeded our expectations. "

"Hotel is not located in the historic and very busy part of the city. More of an upscale neighborhood that was less active, which worked for us. Great rooftop pool and the buffalo breakfast is the best I’ve experienced. You’re only a 7 Euro cab to Rossio. I don’t recommend returning to the hotel via Metro to the M. De Pombal station. The walk up the hill to the hotel will get you."
