"Terrific!"
This was our first visit to St. Martin. We are not posh-resort kind of people, but we do have minimum expectations with respect to cleanliness, convenience, and staff responsiveness to unexpected issues. When we arrived, we were informed by the owner/manager that we were upgraded to the second floor, since this was our first stay at the hotel and it was off-season (October). She was gracious and friendly beyond all expectations, as was the entire staff during our nearly two-week stay. The rooms are comfortable, clean, spacious, and conveniently located to the beach. The air conditioner did die on us on the second day. However, after they attempted to fix it, they moved us to another room with many apologies. If you are the type who expects to be pampered and fussed over, perhaps this is not the place for you. Go to a 5-star resort instead. However, every day someone -- the groundskeeper, the clerical staff, the cleaning lady, the bartender -- asked us how we were enjoying our stay on the island. This type of sincere "checking in" was well-appreciated. I can't say enough about the staff. There are plenty of restaurants within walking distance -- amazing thai, italian, and the best french food I've ever had, at La Table d'Antione. Expensive, for sure, but worth every dollar. We will be back, and we will stay at this hotel irrespective of the time of year we return.

"Our favorite on Orient Beach"
This is our regular hotel, and we love it. The staff, a friendly mix of French ex-pats and island locals, is eager to please--especially for returning guests. It's uncanny how well they remember us from year to year, and will reward our stay with special help for dinner reservations, thank-you-rum in the room, and hugs whenever we pass by!

"Charming hotel steps from Orient Bay."
Reminded me of a Florida Keys hotel back in the 1970s. Individual villas with 1-2-3 bedrooms and each villa has a private pool. Food was terrific and the staff, especially at the restaurant and beach side bar were terrific. Say hello to the "beach boys" and they will take care of you!

"Best Hotel in Orient Beach"
Palm Court is our favorite place to stay on Orient Beach. Not only is it lovely, well-kept hotel but the management is so kind, caring and welcoming. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

"Beautiful location"
Overall great experience. A little nuance with the checking in as we had three rooms. It caused some problem within the family but it was minor. They did very well keeping the guests engaged in activities.,

"Very nice"
We stayed a week here. Loved every minute of it. It's not full service. There's no lobby nor bellmen. Office staff leave at 10pm. The rooms are spacious, luxurious and extremely clean. There are two buildings. The newer one has an elevator. Don't consider staying here if you don't plan to rent a car. You will need one to get around. The only place you can walk to is across the street to the Westin. Condo has ocean view, but it's not a beach front property. You can use the beach at the back of Westin. It's a nice small quiet beach to relax. It's not good for swimming though. There are lots of small rocks and pebbles in the water. There are several dining options nearby.

"Great Vacation"
What a great experience. The hotel was exactly like the pictures. The staff was very attentive, which is not always the case in the Eastern Caribbean. The room was clean and comfortable. The bathrooms were big and updated. Definitely rent a car and explore the island. Lots of great restaurants and experiences.

"Beautiful hotel... But you will need a car!"
We are two 23 year old girls, and stayed at the Marquis Hotel for one week in August 2013. We were very pleased with our experience, particularly with the quality of service received from the staff. The most notable aspect of the Marquis is the size of the rooms and the gorgeous views from the spacious terraces. There were absolutely no issues in terms of comfort, however one should know that noisy winds at night can be alleviated by opening the sliding doors a crack - something we realized after a couple of sleepless nights. Further, it is important to note that the Marquis is situated atop a rather steep hill, and if you are planning on exploring the island (as we most certainly were) you will most definitely need a car. The hotel arranged for a car rental, but we suggest comparing prices prior to arriving in St. Martin. If you happen to be a boring person by nature (not judging) and intend on staying at the hotel, Anse Marcel beach is a 3 minute drive down the hill via the hotel's shuttle service which runs until 10:30pm. There are a few restaurants there, however we HIGHLY recommend exploring the island for better dining opportunities.
