"Friendly, efficient and close to the airport"
We stayed here on arrival to New Zealand and were very pleased with it so booked it again for our return flight 2 months later. We had some logistics problems at the start and the hotel were very accomodating letting us stay in the room until we had got things soreted. On our return we decided to arrive a day early and they bent over backwards to find us a room we could stay in both nights. This was appreciated perticularly since the hotel seems to be fully booked almost contatantly.

Sudima Hotel Christchurch Airport

550 Memorial Avenue, Christchurch - Map

We've been using the Sudima Hotel near the Christchurch Airport since 2007 and have always had a good experience. The rooms are clean, there is always lots of hot water for showers, and the beds and pillows are comfortable. Our most resent stay was on 6 March 2015. A friend from Akaroa was picking us up, but the flight wasn't scheduled to arrive until around midnight, so we booked one night at the Sudima. The plane didn't arrive at Christchurch until 0315 AM on the 7th. The Sudima airport shuttle was there to pick us up. There were 2 staff on duty to get all the late arriving guests checked in. Before I could request a late checkout, the staff asked if we would like a late checkout.

"Great Hotel centre of town opposite Cathedral"
Arrived here at 9:00 too early for check in, and we were somewhat dishevelled after a 37 hour journey from England. The Hotel staff kindly found a room for us as there was an empty one available. We showered and cleaned up and thought the best way to deal with the tiredness was to carry on until normal bedtime, or at least as long as we could. We had a lovely breakfast in the hotel and then set off to explore Christchurch. We had arrived in a drizzle but the day quickly improved and after lunch got quite warm. In fact, whilst sat in the park for half an hour at lunch my forehead got sunburnt. Don't underestimate the power of the sun here, you very quickly burn due apparently to the erosion of the ozone layer. As we we were tired we took a trip to the Gondola. This is a chairlift that takes you up to the coastal range of hills for lovely views all round the area. Christchurch itself is obviously a damaged city that has a long way to go before it returns, if ever to its former glory. The interesting thing about the city is the way it has coped with the aftermath of the earthquake and the human interest stories surrounding this. Quake City, Canterbury Museum and the Botanical Gardens are a must. Restaurants and pubs spread about all over the place. Hotel breakfast is a must, and you could do worse than eating in for dinner. Fiddlesticks a good choice for evening meal with inventive menus. Spirit of the locals is endearing.

"Great location"
This villa is a great stay. The central location of the city center is perfect. Even though Christchurch has undergone a terrible earthquake 4 years ago it's restart is amazing. The villa is located one block from the Botanical Gardens and a trolley that you can get on is across the street from the villa. This takes you on a 50 minute city center tour ($20 each and worth it) it's a hop on hop off trolley. Our room was excellent and Peter upgraded us to a one bedroom suite that overlooked the garden. A wonderful breakfast is served in a beautiful dining room. After we checked out we weren't leaving until 6:00pm and they kept our belongings for us for the day. A must stay place.
