“A vey nice hotel”
very comfortable and has all the necessities for an enjoyable stay!
“great airport hotel”
Great airport hotel...convenient with good shuttle service. The only downside was no other restaurants or fast food places in the area. Otherwise quite room with comfortable beds and free internet access.
“Would love to go back”
We found the location very useful as we didn't want to be right in the CBD but could access areas of Christchurch very easily. staff were very helpful in providing us with maps and directions to sights and shopping areas which saved a lot of anxt trying to locate places in a foreign city. The staff were very friendly and competent. The restauarant on site was very handy,(meals were very nice) particularly the first night after travelling most of the day.
“Great Airport Hotel”
We had a flat battery when we left our previous accommodation and were not sure if it would start the next morning when we needed to get to the airport. The hotel staff told us they have a battery pack we were welcome to use. Our car started and we didn't need to use the pack. All staff were friendly and helpful The room was comfortable and the bar and restaurant very efficient and food satisfactory. I would come back again.
“things you may not know!”
The Hotel is currently building a new wing with more rooms, this did not affect my stay. Also i was worried about the hotel being close to the airport and having noise from planes.. I wasn't woken up at all, and don't even remember hearing one plane.

“Very Impressed.”
I loved the fact we were close to the Airport and the Hotel had a free shuttle bus. Everyone was very friendly and arranged bus passes to the City, or booked a tour with no hassles. We rented a car for two days, which was dropped off to us at the Hotel and when we were finished with it, we left it at the Hotel for them to pick up. Great service, there. The restaurant was nice, bar and table service very good, with friendly and cheerful waitresses/waiters. Loved the indoor pool/spa and took advantage of these. No negatives about this Hotel, other than not getting the free cookies (and only one packet when we did) for a few days. Would recommend.
“Good Choice, Close to the Airport”
We had stayed at the Commodore during our first trip to NZ and picked it again for the night before we left. It is convient to the airport for early morning flights. They even carry US Pro football playoffs on their TV as many of the US crew members from the south pole stay there. The last trip we had a business level room and this time a "superior" king. The earlier was significantly upgraded over this one but also significantly more expensive. While showing its age, the room was spacious, clean, quiet and the bed VERY comfortable. Well worth the Expedia price considering the location. We found the restaurant menu on the expensive side and there aren't any other options close if you don't have a car. Refrigerator in room; bring some snacks and something for breakfast.
“Great hotel to end trip to New Zealand”
We took a major trip from Honolulu to Sydney, and then New Zealand, total of 12 days/nights and 6 hotels. This was the last hotel we stayed in prior to flying out of Christchurch to Honolulu. Let me tell you, after 9 days in 5 hotels, and over 1200km of driving, I was very pleased to spend our family's last night here at Copthorne Hotel. Although it's a little older hotel, it has been well maintained and keeps a resort feel in the busyness of Christchurch. We had a relaxing time at the gym and the pool. My nearly 3 year old loved the jacuzzi and pool (and tired her out). We ate at the hotel restaurant because I turned in the rental car early (and had the hotel pick me up from the airport!). I am not a big fan of hotel restaurants, but we were quite pleased with the "meat lover's" pizza we had. My wife had the salmon, which was bland, so avoid that. Finally we retired to a nice clean and comfortable room. The next morning we checked out in a few minutes and they wisked us away to the airport. Being that it's 3 minutes away from the airport, we maximized our sleep and rest for the long flight back. Terrific ending, and we would absolutely do this again if we come back.
“Good stay at the Copthorne Commodore, recommended!”
The Copthorne was a good place to stay before leaving next day from the airport. The staff were friendly and attentive. Good quality food in the restaurant though service a little slow. This hotel is not right on the airport grounds but their shuttlebus leaves on request and it's only a 10 min drive at most.
