Property Amenities
Tamarind Village is a unique and charming Lanna-style boutique property that nestles in the heart of historic Chiang Mai. Its 45 guest rooms are decorated in a contemporary style that reflects the rich ethnic diversity of northern Thailand by using fabrics and patterns drawn from the various tribes of the region.
Local and international dishes are served at the stylish Ruen Tamarind restaurant, where guests can choose to dine indoors or outdoors on the pool terrace of this cozy café-style restaurant.
The Village Spa offers an extensive menu of massage therapies, treatments, scrubs, wraps as well as packages to rejuvenate the body and soul, while The Tamarind Boutique’s carefully chosen selection represents the very best of contemporary design items alongside a fine selection of northern Thai artifacts. Other facilities include an outdoor swimming pool, travel desk services, and 24-hour concierge.
Tamarind Village hosts a regular program of exhibitions and events featuring interesting topics related to local culture.
Historical attractions including Wat Phra Singh, Wat Chedi Luang, Thapae Gate are only a few minutes walk away. Each week, Chiang Mai’s famous ‘Sunday Walking Street’ takes place just in front of the hotel’s entrance.
Rooms
Tamarind Village's 42 rooms and 3 suites are situated around a series of flower-filled courtyards, giving each room a sense of relaxed space. Decorated with simple yet elegant touches, the interiors draw on contemporary design for the runners, throw rugs and accessories and contrast the bold visual patterns of hill tribe fabrics against white bedding and polished concrete floors to striking effect. All rooms feature modern, fully equipped bathrooms.
All of our rooms offer satellite television, mini-bar, tea/coffee making facilities and IDD telephone, hair dryer and in-room safe. Ensuite bathrooms include separate shower and toilet areas as well as the hotel’s own line of custom-designed bath amenities (Twin and king size bed). The suites boast DVD players while ensuite bathrooms include a bathtub and a separate shower. Electricity is supplied at 220 volts through flat twin pin sockets. Wireless internet is available in all rooms.

Tamarind Village also boasts a selection of authentic Northern Thai dishes from original family recipes that have been handed down over generations. In addition to popular favorites such as ‘nam prik noom’ a green chili dipping sauce and ‘gaeng hang lay’ a mild pork and ginger curry, Ruen Tamarind also features less well known recipes, such as its signature ‘Yum Sanut’, a vegetable salad tossed in a tangy, chili dressing, ensuring diners always have something new to taste and discover when they visit.
Recreation
Tamarind Village offers half and full day excursions to some of the area’s most interesting sites. Temple and market trips, village visits and forays into national parks are all on offer. Other popular activities include elephant riding, jungle walks, rock climbing and rafting. Those interested in traditional crafts can spend the day visiting artisan studios or explore the very best shopping that Chiang Mai has to offer.
Tamarind Village also has its very own cookery classes which can be combined with a morning visit to one of the local markets. Other activities include garland weaving and umbrella painting which are available on a complimentary basis. Perfect for adults and children alike!
‘The Village Walk’, takes in some of the neighborhood’s most interesting temples and sites on foot and is offered several times each week. The excursions desk can provide guests with all the information required to make the very most of one’s stay in Chiang Mai.

Excellent location to see the old city. You can walk to all the sites. Many small shops and restaurants. Easy to get tours to sites outside the city. Hotel has a Thai ambiance.
