Overall a decent place to stay. It does and at times doesn't give you a vibe of a 5 star hotel. Services were pretty quick but the reception was average. The room was spacious and in decent condition bathroom was a let down. Aircon somehow was a bit too cold even after adjusting the thermostat. The buffet in the morning was pretty limit and even had found a hair in one of the dishes (that was unacceptable and disgusting).

It’s a has been hotel which needs a major overhaul, no social distance and not a Covid rate hotel, food is so so can’t rate it. Won’t be coming back here going to my usual Taj hotel Chandigarh

A short and nice stay
I spent an evening and a night before early mornign checkout and heading to hotel. Good things: nice lobby, great lawns for jogging around on the property, good food and decent sized rooms.

This hotel has probably been outstanding once upon a time, with great reception and lobby, friendly staff and very good food, especially the breakfast buffet. What was very disappointing was that the swimming pool and fitness center were out of order due to full renovation. Fitness center/gym was my no 1 search choice on Hotels in Chandigarh. Unfortunately, I would never have stayed at this hotel if I had known about this information when booking. I feel very cheated about this. Also, it made the evenings terrible boring, because it was nothing else to do in this neighbourhood.

Pool is a disaster with no service or lounges. The picture shows many lounges with an umbrella - there were none! Water seemed unclean. Also, no beverage or food service at pool. Rooms have an "old" smell and are in a desperate need of updating. AC barely effective during the day time. This was a great hotel 20 years ago, but seems no money has been invested to update the place. Staff is nice. Food is decent. Location is very good.

Decent price, however dated rooms and lack of plug sockets in the room. The catering and restaurant staff were lovely, but felt uncomfortable with certain staff members who hung around until you gave them a tip (for opening a door or taking room key from your hand and walking you to the lift to your room which we never asked for..)

Stinky rooms without water
Rooms smelled real bad we were shown 4 rooms all were horrible. There was no water in room restrooms when we complained to front desk after the walk around of rooms we were told they are out of water in entire hotel and the water tanks are being filled. Will never ever go back to this place.

We stayed there for the sake of Nostalgia. But it is certainly sub-par compared to other hotels we usually stay in. The room has a balcony with a nice view of the gardens and pool. The age shows in the quality of elevators, bathroom fittings, room decor etc.

The Mountview was once probably a pretty nice place to stay. Now it is slowly sliding into the lower end of the hotel range. For a foreigner or NRI, probably better to stay at one of the other hotels like the Hyatt or Taj for the modest extra cost. Only reason to stay here would be to sense what a local Indian hotel is like vs an international traveler oriented hotel.
