“Out of town”
This hotel is a motel type accommodation, and I would assume it is targetted at those with vehicles. I would suggest that is not suitable for those who intend to walk to the attractions of Carcassonne. It is sited opposite a commercial park approximately a mile from the city, and there are no bars or restaurants (apart from Macdonalds) within a reasonable distance. Apart from that the staff are very helpful and pleasant, and the rooms are clean and tidy.
“Looks dingy but is convenient and good value”
The hotel was just off the main Narbonne road into Carcassone, opposite a useful shopping centre with cafe, supermarkets and petrol station. It is not a pretty hotel by any standards, but we were pleasantly surprised once inside. We arrived on a Sunday early afternoon, and the supermarket cafe was open for lunch, even though all the shops were closed. This was just as well, as we were told - eventually - that we couldn't have lunch in the hotel, as they were expecting a group later... We asked about the walk to the walled city and were given accurate instructions how to get there along a back road, which was far better than having to walk along the main road. It took just over 20 minutes. The room was small, but comfortable and clean, with tea/coffee making facilities available. There was free wifi in the room, which worked fine. The shower/bath was very good. There was no discernable traffic noise during the night. We chose not to have breakfast in the hotel, as we already had some supplies, so cannot comment on that aspect. Checkout was quick. Would recommend this hotel as it was far cheaper than those closer to/in town, so good value for money and pleasant enough once inside.
“Good value”
Good value and good location both for the Old City and the Airport
“We really enjoyed our stay at Hotel Bosquet. It was ideal for visiting Carcassonne.”
The hotel is about a 25 min walk from the old cite. Along a main road which is well lit at night. Taxi trips were 1o euros. Local bus also an option every hour. The hotel reception staff were very friendly and helpful. They did speak good English but were also patient with my poor French. The hotel itself is clean and comfortable. A couple of things that could be improved upon where the beds - only really catering for couples so no twin bedded rooms. Also the wardrobe was extremely limited hanging space but there was plenty of other storage areas. Shower has excellent. The breakfast is highly recommended at 7 euros for a continental breakfast but it was a good buffet. We did not eat dinner in the hotel and the bar didn't seem to open at regular hours. The hotel is a 15 min walk from a very friendly family run restaurant on the same road to the Cite. Overall we really enjoyed our time in Carcassonne and the hotel was exactly what we were looking for. Clean, comfortable, friendly and in walking distance to the Cite. Some of the other review comments we saw before booking the hotel talked about walking down a country lane - unlit. There was in fact no need to take this road. The main road was a quicker route and was lit. We booked the hotel due to the distance from the Cite and the excellent reports of cleanliness. Those reviewers were spot on.
“Clean and efficient”
Helpful and friendly staff. Rooms small but comfortable. Buffet breakfast excellent. A 20 min walk to La Cite; we found a back road which was quite and much easier walking than the main road. Also, buses run from the Supermarket opposite the hotel.
“convenient for visit to carcassonne”
Room was rather small but o/k for 1 or 2 nights. breakfast was excellant and service was good
“No airconditioning”
We stayed here in June 2007. The staff are friendly, and everything is clean. The rooms are very cramped. But beware the aircons in the rooms do not work at all. We moved rooms after the first night, and the new room also had an aircon that did not work. In the height of summer the rooms would be unbearable.
“Satisfactory”
Very difficult to find, and rather spartan in its bedrooms - all right for an overnight stay but probably not much longer. It did however, have an excellent breakfast with fresh, locally baked pastries, and tea making facilities in the room. Hotel staff were helpful.
“1970's again”
The room was well worn to say the least. The newest piece of furniture was from the 1980's. The decor is 1970's. Plus, the room was extremely small, it should have only had one bed in it, some how they squeezed two in the room--trust me it was literally squeezed-in. While the room was reasonably clean and the staff was courteous and helpful, I cannot recommend this hotel until they freshen the room a bit.
“Not impressed”
3 beds (1 double plus 2 single) crammed into a double room. Little wardrobe space. No hotel bar.
