“satisfactory holiday”
Bahrooms are not suitable for elderly or less able folk. Needs safety rails near the bath to make it safer to use the shower. The food in the restaurant was very good , the service at breakfast was excellent, but the dinner service was vey slow.n the whole a happy visit.
“Perfect for sightseeing break”
The hotel is great for a weekend of sightseeing. The hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, the parking underneath the building is easy (although one-off charge applies), rooms are very spacious, big foyer/atrium and nice size pool and spa. we went for this hotel as the room rate was significantly less than others and we didn't need breakfast included. Hotel is dated but for using as a base, it is fine. Convenient location to the sights although we ended up driving. About $20 cab fare to Civic area where number of restaurants and bars. Overall - very pleasant stay, would recommend.
“Dirty Sheets”
This is suppose to be a 4.5 star hotel... Whatever! Who is the rating agency? They should get back out there and take another look. No way this place is more than 2 stars. I got in late, put my luggage in the room and went downstairs to eat dinner. There was a spotlight pointed directly at my table (like a floodlight). I asked them to turn it off and they redirected it. Why would you put floodlights in a dinning room area? Food was average. After dinner I went back to the room exhausted. I pulled back the sheets and immediately saw hairs and rumples. Disgusting. I called the front desk and they promptly got me a new room across the hall. SHEETS dirty again! Called the front desk and I'm sure the guy thought I was being difficult. I wasn't. I was exhausted and wanted to go to bed. That's all. I would rather sleep outside than in dirty hotel sheets. So, he said that he would come up and we would go to another room and look at the sheets together. We went into the next room, a suite, and we both pulled the sheets back together. HAIRS! Creases! SHEETS DIRTY in the third room! I couldn't believe it. He agreed to change the sheets. 4.5 stars? Really? Who rated this place??? Disgusting! This place is very poorly managed. Little bits of trash (or rubbish) throughout.
“Good place to stay but...”
Rydges Capital Hill is a comfortable hotel to stay - the bed was great, easy to manage the temperature - a must in Canberra, however, don't order room service and pay by credit card - you'll be slugged a service fee for using credit card, which I thought extraordinary. The food was just average. We were assigned a room with a single bed instead of 2 double beds - a petty annoyance, however if the hotel had been full, it would have been a problem. The staff weren't very friendly either.
“Very good hotel near Capital”
Very nice hotel and very close to the capital and other govt buildings. There is nothing else to do. You have to order a cab to go to the town for dinner and bar (except for the ones in the hotel).
