“not impressed as incorrect room type supplied”
The hotel were unable to provide the room type paid for. They eventually agreed to compensate us by providing free breakfasts. However, the room supplied did not even have a chair to sit on, so much for a "Deluxe Room". It was a bad choice for us and I do not think that i will return there
“Will stay again”
Well located, just a few minutes from the city both by car or bus. Good service. Nice, quiet room (if you are on the right side of the building). A little bit expensive but nothing is cheap in Canberra! Would come back.
“"Just as expected"”
The Hotel was fine, the bar service was OK. The rooms very clean and well maintained, unlike the last couple of hotels I have stayed in at Canberra. The only problem which is outside management hands is that Northbourne Ave is the main road into Canberra and hence is can pickup noisy people at hours when most people sleep. 12.30 am blasting music like we were in the hood in NY, woke me up having just got to sleep from being out ourselves. A repeat dose of different noisy people at 5 am again woke us up, and we were on the 3rd floor. The bed was comfortable and location to get around Canberra was good.
“Not coming back”
Airconditioning not working properly (heat wouldn't turn off). Staff advised, nothing resolved. Bathroom very cramped. Nowhere to hang clothes while showering and nowhere for toiletries to go. Lack of mirrors. Room for one person only as far as seating, other than sitting on the bed. Would be impossible to eat room service meal for more than 1 person with any sort of comfort Lighting not satisfactory. Restaurant service very poor staff either rude or disinterested (that could account for so few eating in). Far from being a 4 1/2 star Delux room found it to be 3 star maximum. Could not possibly recommend this hotel and won't be returning.
“More like 2.5 stars”
The Negative: - The rooms are old and small; with broken tiles in the bahroom. - The location means that you have to drive to everything. - The bar closes at 10pm on a Saturday night. The Posotive: - The staff are nice and friendly
“Good quality hotel”
Good service by all staff. Rooms cleaned perfectly every day. Very quiet hotel, despite being on major road. Modern rooms, albiet TV was older style and a bit small. Staff even permitted me to store 3 bicycles in their luggage room and were only too happy to allow me retrieve the bikes each day without complaint.
“Relaxing Pavilion”
Loved the free shuttle that dropped me off in the mornings and was handy to bus and tourist info only a few minutes away. Very restful pavilion courtyard though pool area was most uninviting and I would have loved to sit outside and relax if it had been otherwise.
“nice,but need re-furbishing a bit.Great food.”
Great service-but the rooms need upgrading. There was a metre long crack in the main room on the mirror, and bathroom taps, from 70's,were falling off. A 70's hotel;comfotable for price, but in desparate need of repair. There is a linked new one called Aria, they own at the back-great serviced apts.Obviously the money saved went building this one.Very nice food and service though.Taxis at peak time very unreliable in Canberra-don't arrive for 40 mins.
“Will go back again”
The hotel is well situated. It was easy to find. we had great access to the city of Canberra. the hotel provided us with maps and infromation about attractions. It had a beautiful atrium in the middle of the hotel. we ate lunch there on 2 occasions, which is very rare for us, but the $12 lunch was outstanding quality. We didn't eat in the main restaurant so i can't comment on that. It was very clean. I don't really like showers in the bath but we managed that okay. The service was good and everyone was very helpful. there is an outdoor pool which looked very inviting, but the weather turned so we didn't use it.
“Excellent value”
The Pavilion is an excellent hotel and I highly recommend it to anyone visiting Canberra. The bus stop is outside the front door, there is ample car parking and an easy stroll to the Information Centre in Northborne Ave. It is located close to the great cafes and restaurants in Dickson and the Courtesy bus to the city, Parliamentary Triangle and the airport is a wonderful bonus!
