“Admin is weak”
The Admin of the hotel is weak. On three separate occasions I tried to get the conceirge on the phone and as that phone was never answered I tried phoning the Reception three times and they never answered and so then I tried the phone operator and even they never answered the phone. The desklight in the room didn't work. The gym requires guests to bring their own towel but this is not stated in the handbook in the room. The handbook in the room is the hardest I have ever read in a hotel - most difficult to work out what the opportunities for using the gym by way of example. It was hard to get the adress of the hotel. I looked up the website and it said AKuna St. but they were in Allara St. When I phoned the operator from the car he gave me Binara St which I coudln't get into due to the contruction going on in the lead in street !! The hotel was really very unhelpful all round!
“Excellent. Would definitely return.”
Stayed with a 7mth old baby and would definitely go back. Room lovely, hotel staff super friendly and helpful, and general hotel environment really pleasant. Great location within easy walking distance of War Memorial, Glebe Park, Lake Burley Griffin and, this time of year, Floriade. Also only a 15min walk to National Film and Sound Archive. Only a block away from Canberra Centre, huge range of restaurants and anything else we would have needed. Had a great week.
“Canberra value & qualityu”
Good rate for Floriade in October. Cheap room but watch out for parking and breakfast. Great comfortable King bed. Sheets were part synthetic and not so comfortable, but OK. Underground parking is very crowded and disorganized. Restaurants expensive, but looked good quality.
“Noisy Canberra”
In 3 nights I didn;t get a decent sleep. Between loud voices at 2.30 am and workers at 6 am.
“Nice hotel, convenient location, shame about the restaurant”
This hotel is fine. It lives up to its star rating and is very conveniently located. I couldn't, however, recommend the restaurant "Red Salt". At breakfast on Sunday the breads & pastries were at least a day old and stale. At dinner, we really fancied a steak and Red Salt advertises itself as specialising in steaks. To cut a long story short, our waitress assured us the special of the day was a wagyu steak, but when served it turned out to be roast beef - not happy! She also brought the wrong wine, so we ended up with our second choice meal and second choice wine. Management were very apologetic and solicitous, but it is clear that their staff training leaves a lot to be desired. My advice is that even though there is not much going on in Canberra on a Sunday night, it's still best to make the effort to eat somewhere else.
“Comforts away from Home”
We were greated with a friendly smile after a long day out and about, so it was nice to check in hassle free. Our room was very nice with all the comforts from home, beaming with an earthy tone ombieance and a fantastic view of the city was all one needed to feel at home. The facilities were great even if you werent inspired to use the gym the kids will love using the swimming pool. We would come back for sure
“Good hotel within walking distance to shops and caves.”
The area the hotel was in was central but quiet. Situated next to a formal garden and was easy walking distance to cafes and good quality shops at the Canberra Centre. We felt relaxed and safe in that area of Canberra.
“I love Canberra”
Canberra is alovely city with lots of things to do and you do not have to travel far to get anywhere everything is close be and the facilities of the crown plaza hotel are adding to the nice experience
“Great Canberra Location”
The best thing about the Crowne Plaza was a great staff, very pleasant, helpful and knowledgeable about Canberra. It is situated right in the city centre so was in walking distance to the shops, cafes, bars and public transport. There was a lovely park next door with a playground if you wanted to have some outside time with the children. The room was clean and comfortable, beds are showing signs of wear, the twin rooms have double beds only so could get a little cosy if you are used to a larger bed. The air con worked well, the windows opened so you could have fresh air. The views were great. We didn't avail ourelves of the in-house restaurant as travelling with children it was too expensive per head, but staff happily pointed out local cafes nearby that suited the budget. Only downside was that the pool was an outdoor one - not so good on a chilly Canberra morning. The gym was well equiped. Would happily stay there again.
“Sanctuary”
After a hectic 3 days of road trip the Crowne Plaza was just the respite that we needed. Centrally situated to most attractions and restaurants. Our room was very neat with 2 double beds, flat screen tv and wireless Internet. Level of service from reception through to restaurant was refreshingly pleasant. The restaurant experience justifies putting it on your itinery for at least 1 meal.
