Breakfast room: Breakfast is served in the wood-panelled dining room, with a mirrored central buffet area, dark wood armchair-style seats and modern Perspex lamps.

Gallery Café - Open all day for drinks and snacks, with an a la carte menu at lunch and dinner. The dining room has a marble floor, rugs, armchair-style seats upholstered in blue and brown and a sleek glass-topped bar. Serves dishes such as Goulash and Sauteed Fillets of Beef in Bloody Mary Sauce, with Courgette Chips and Roast Potatoes.

Recreation

The basement fitness centre comprises a sauna, fitness room with treadmill, bikes and weights, a small steam room, and a massage room. There are also two showers, a locker room and relaxation zone.

Budapest is famous for its spa baths. The most famous of these are the Gellert Baths, which feature steam rooms, hot spa pools, cold plunge pools and an ornate Art Nouveau swimming pool. Visitors can also have massages and beauty treatments here; alternate days are for men or women only. The Gellert Baths are across the Danube from the hotel, 1.5 kilometres away. Margaret island, a leafy oasis in the centre of the Danube, lies two kilometres from the hotel and has a running track around its perimeter.

“Really clean, excellent location”

I highly recommend K & K. The K & K is a very clean and neat. We were really impressed in how they cleaned our room - the folks who did the cleaning organized everything in the bathroom, including our toothbrushes! The location was excellent. The staff was helpful when you needed some help, but I never got the sense that they wanted to go out of their way to really chat with you about your plans or your day or provide any recommendations. This was probably a function of the fact that they are desk staff, they have other guests to attend to, and they cannot afford to become involved in long conversations with one guest. That being said, we relied on our tour book, found other helpful folks around Budapest, so in the end it was not a big deal. In fact, it was probably better that we figured things out ourselves.

“Great value for money- exceptional service from hotel staff, good location”

Hotel staff are exceptionally service minded, courteous and always in a good mood. Our stay was very enjoyable. Breakfast diversity was excellent- classic large hotel European style. I have had worse breakfasts at hotels rated much higher. Hotels is spacious, simple and clean with a great location. Rooms were modern and well maintained. Location is excellent for tourist sites and shopping. A great value for the money. Definitely recommend staying at the K&K Hotel Opera.

Area recommendations

The K&K Hotel opera is one block from a many shopping and dining street. Less than a block from a main metro to either the baths or central square. Reasonable walking distance to other main shopping street and major cathedral. Well pleased with the location.

“Upscale hotel offering super hospitality and good value!”

We loved our stay in Budapest at the K&K Opera hotel. The location is good, right next door to the Opera House and we were able to walk to the Jewish Synagogue and to the gorgeous river area (which is a ways but a nice walk) and down the street there is an active area with lots of restaurants. A metro stop and bus stops are in front of the hotel, including the Hop On Hop Off tours. The hotel staff is fantastic--so helpful and friendly! They arranged a private tour for us of the Parliament building. The breakfast buffet was included in our stay and it was huge. The hotel is lovely, our room was comfortable and well supplied with amenities. The bed wasn't the softest but otherwise, the hotel is great and a very good value. Since we caught a very early flight our day of departure the hotel provided us with a breakfast to go. Super hospitality!

“Great hotel in perfect location”

Set just behind the Opera, the hotel is 2 minutes walk from a metro stop and it is a short walk to all the major sites in downtown Budapest. You can't beat the location. The hotel itself is moderately priced but rooms are comfortable with free internet and all the amentities. I highly recommend this hotel.

“Highly Recommend”

Modern small boutique hotel tucked away yet right in the thick of it. Staff very friendly and helpful. Great breakfast. All the attractions of Budapest are within easy walking distance. Close to boulevardes and great cafes and restaurants.

Area close to the Opera. Close to high fashion shopping boulevarde, fabulous outdoor cafes and restaurants and Cathedral and easy walking distance to Bridges, the Danube and Buda.

Must see

Organ concert in the Cathedral. Danube Folk Ensemble. Bronzed shoes along the front of the Danube. Stained glass windows in the Church of St Mattias.

The first strudel house of Pest "Strudel House" - watch as a chef stretches the strudel. Great food and atmosphere and all kinds of strudel imaginable.
