“Fantastic Budapest unique Hotel”
Superb Houseboat Hotel, good location with public transport to the city. Great service, Excellent food, this is my second business visit here, I will be taking the family with me next year, this experience is something that you dont usually get with your city hotels. Glass of wine or beer on the deck, fantastic.
“Great experience”
Wonderful experience. As soon as I read about the boat's history, I was hooked and besides it was one of the lowest rates offered for that night. Since the ferry was no longer running (it's only until September, not through September), the transportation to the city center was a little tedious and a phone in the room would have been nice. However the people were so nice, the accommodations and the views were amazing and the food in the restaurant was really good. The complementary breakfast wasn't really that good--at least not to my American palate.
“Out of the ordinary in every way”
The Aquamarina hotel was excellent. The staff were extremely friendly, helpful and generous. It was more like staying with friends than in a hotel. Friendly local atmosphere with lots of places to eat, drink and see round about without having to go into the centre of Budapest.
“Location Location Location”
This hotel is all about 'location'. The negative: it is quite a way out of the centre of Budapest (6-7 pounds by taxi). The positive: if you want a peaceful, restful stay in a stunningly beautiful location, this is the hotel for you.
“Too far from the City”
It was a lovely hotel with great service and comfortable beds and a great shower. The only problem was travel in the off season wasn't very easy. You had to catch buses which could be quite confusing. A boat ran on the weekends but took about 2 hours to get to the center of town.
“Nice quiet place”
Nice quiet hotel. A bit out of the center, but if you go in summer you can take the boat to the center. Very charming.
“This hotel boat beats all downtown hotels”
Not for the Club Med set, but this floating hotel boat on the Danube, anchored on the northern Buda side of the city, offers casual elegance, convenience, calm, and a very relaxing stay on the water. Downtown Budapest is easy to reach from the hotel via the regular ferry service which stops right at the hotel boat. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly and speak good English. Complimentary breakfast is okay, although the selection is limited. Prices are very competitive. If you can afford, book an apartment on the bow end of the ship (i.e. on the front), these are spectacular, two-room suites with unforgettable views of the Danube bend. The regularly priced rooms, with views of the river and the east shore, are just as beautiful, though. Best choice for travelers who like cities and convenience yet prefer to wander a little off the beaten path.
“A bit far out of town but very restful and peaceful.”
I wouldn't really recommend this to anyone who wanted to be in the height of the action and close to town, although the boat bus type service operating to ferry people into the centre was very good. For me it gave me the best of both worlds. If it had been 3.5 miles from the centre, I would have walked it but it was much further out than quoted. Overall, I loved it but could imagine other people being a bit surprised.
“Great for a quiet break”
Quirky hotel - revamped Soviet paddle steamer on the Danube. We had a huge room at the back (more like a squite really) with an entrance to the terrace. Cleaning was a bit haphazard - seems every other day rather than daily - and shampoo was only provided on day 3. The hotel is miles outside the city so if you want the city buzz it will not be a place for you. City transport is good but it's still a fair walk to catch the suburban rail. But for serenity you can't beat it.
“Aquamarina hotel”
The hotel was about an hour from the city centre and had a regular bus service to and from metro station. The staff at the hotel were really helpful and all spoke English. The price of hotel was very reasonable and was comfortable enough for the two nights we stayed. Only problem is the bars/shops in the district stop serving alcohol after 10pm during the week so if you want a drink after 10pm on a weekday you will have to buy your alcohol before 10pm or go to a different district.
