This glitzy, neon-soaked strip – much despised by commuting locals – might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but there is a magic to its mania and a rich heritage to boot. If the M&M store, MTV and big-brand billboards don’t do it for you, keep your eye out for public art installations. Otherwise you can try a walking tour of the area’s history and architecture, or slip into one of its many Broadway theatres.

I had a Queen suite for 2 nights. PROS: good location, nice staff, comfortable bed, no bed bugs, clean room and towels, large TV, nice stocked kitchenette, updated sink, Dove brand toiletries, free washer/dryer in the basement. Welcome waters and chips was a nice touch. CONS: unreliable door keys, bad odor when the heat turned on (AC was ok), they ran out of coffee for the rooms (still had coffee at the lobby), homeless people and filthy street when walking towards 9th Ave (towards 8th Ave was not an issue). Don’t expect a view out of the window.

This hotel showed some wear and tear in small ways in our hotel room, but everything else was great for the price. The location being right next to the Lincoln Center is perfect for attending a show or the opera. The rooftop bar was just right with its small plates and big views. There was aSarbucks right on the corner too. Central Park was just a few blocks away.
