“Small and unpleasant”
I think this was way too expensive for the price. The room on the top floor I was given at a really solid expensive was tiny, has no a/c, and the water pressure was so awful I forgo the shower... The internet has to be purchased extra, but the was they calculate it, it's not all that bad. The location is very good, close to the university and is in walking distance to the central bus station. The Racks is ok, reasonable beer selection but the food is no good, and the wait staff is terrible. This is in contrast with hotel receptionists who were quite friendly. Overall, POOR grade from me.
“Not impressed”
The staff were not helpful and allowed some guest to register early, but not us. It took us about 24 hours to arrive at the hotel from our home. We were not allowed to check in before 2 p.m., but observed that another guest was allowed to check in early. Once we questioned the staff, then we were allowed to check in 30 minutes early. The hotel was not full, and it was obvious that rooms were available. When traveling most recently to Paris, we arrived 3 hours early, but were allowed to check in upon arrive without asking. Based on this we cannot recommend this hotel. Not once were we greeted with "good morning " or any other comment.
“Convenient Clifton Hotel”
The Clifton Hotel can be a bit hit & miss. The first room we were put in was terrible. The decor was shabby, the window overlooked the dumpster so we had to listen to people putting out trash and bottles all night and the dump truck in the morning. Plus, the bar was on that side of the hotel so there was a lot of noise from outside. However, the staff were very accomodating and moved us to another room on the other side of the hotel which was much brighter. It still looked a bit tired, but was clean. The best part of the hotel is the location! We could walk easily to the Triangle and Clifton Village. Overall, I'd stay there again.
“Was okay”
The hotel was fine. The reception desk was very helpful. The toilet in my room started leaking smelly water about two days into my stay, and the noise from the bar downstairs was rather loud on the side of the building where my room was, but otherwise it was fine.
“Good hotel for great price in Clifton”
Great location and affordable price in the lovely Clifton area. Friendly staff made the stay even more pleasant.
