“Birthday Surprise”
We went for my wifes birthday as a surprise. I asked them to place a bottle of champagne in the room for when we arrived later in the evening and when we got there they had also placed some petit fours with the chilled champagne. A great little surprise! The service is excellent and the rooms wonderful with fantastic views of the river. Would definitely stay there again.
“Good location”
Nice room with river and pool views. Staff excellent and flexible. Top rates with expedia.com.au when staying for more than one night.
“Not Impressed”
This hotel was allegedly renowned as a top-notch hotel, but we were not impressed. The air-conditioner did not work (would not keep cool) and the maintenance person stated that it is the best he could do. Their solution was to bring in two fans. After sharing our concerns with the hotel manager about the room temperature and our room location, nothing was done to satisfy us.
“Would not stay there again”
A suite in my understanding is two separate rooms. A bedroom and a lounge sitting area. We got all the above in 1 room, the bed at one end and the sitting area at the other end - terrible as I like to wake up early and my wife likes to wake up a bit later. Once bitten twice shy (never again at this hotel will I get caught)
“Stamford Plaza, April 2010”
Stamford is excellently loacted and a nice play to stay. The old Siggy's restaraunt is close which is a shame. Otherwise it was a very pleasant stay.
“Great hotel choice for Brisbane”
The hotel is in a central location, close to city stores & some great Brisbane restaurants. Bike hire is only minutes away. Riverside walk & ferries are at the door. Markets are close by. Rooms are comfortable & spacious. Service is very good. Breakfast had a large selection, restaurant may have been a bit under staffed though. All in all, its a very good hotel.
“Our usual haunt whilst in Brisbane”
This is our 3rd or 4th visit to the Stamford as we find its location to be ideal for what we want to do. We are not very demanding customers when it comes to the consumption of hotel services but having said that we always find that the concierge desk to be most courteous and helpful. The TV in the bathroom was not wroking and even though we reported it and a service amn came directly, by the end of our stay it was still not working. This did not bother us unduly though. I do think it is time to update the room with a new flat-screen TV and replace those enormous TV/service cabinets. We see no reason not to return to this establishment. Thanks Stamford for yet another pleasant stay. Paul and Elizabeth Corboy, New Zealand
“The Perfect Choice”
After many confusing web-searches, i realize the Stamford Plaza was the perfect choice for my 3-day stay in Brisbane. The hotel is gorgeous, exceeded only by the meandering riverview from my room. The location is perfect for stretching out after a long flight: miles of nearby walkways lined with cafes, adjacent to a city park, and an easy walk to a nearby pier where you can hop-on and hop-off any CityCat, ferry, bus, or train all day long (that puts everything within easy reach) -- i even jumped on a Cat with luggage in tote to reach the cruise terminal, skirting a $40 taxi fare. Staff gave me a free toothbrush & toothpaste, and discounts to the hotel breakfast, when the airlines sent my luggage to the wrong country. Only slight negative: housekeeping needs to use clorox on minor shower grout mold (a strange finding for such an awesome manor).
“Some disappointment”
It was disappointing that a hotel of this standing charged a hefty price for in-room wireless internet service and gave no option for a free morning newspaper; services that are mostly included in other comparable hotels worlwide.
