“Exactly what we had hoped”
Rydges Southbank is a superbly located hotel for a night at QPAC - valet parking for the car (at $30 a night) compared to $15 for a park underneath QPAC doesn't seem too bad, and the staff are extremely friendly. The only "con" I can think of is the very small bathroom, but who cares for one night. It's clean, comfortable and with the membership of Rydges club you get 20% of food purchases from the cafe - yippee.
“Would go back...”
Having booked to attend the yearly Textile Conference and given the bad weather- wanted a Hotel close by. Th Rydges Southbank hotel was adjacent to the Brisbane Convention Centre and was a comfortable hotel. The room was spotless, bed comfy with extra blankets provided. The Buffet breakfast however, - th ehot breakfast was never really hot in the 3 mornings I was there.. and not a lot of variety.S
“Great location”
The Rydges South Bank is situated in a great location with many cafe's and eating places nearby. It is only a short walk to the South Brisbane train station where you can get a Airtrain to and from both the domestic and international airports. It is also the best location for attending conferences at the nearby Convention Centre and is close to the cultural area of Brisbane. The only downside to our stay was that our room did not have a balcony or a window that would open as we faced the back of the hotel. However we did get a free firework display with the best view of it from our room on two nights of our stayed there (bonus). Over the service, staff and food there was good and they also sell Airtrain tickets at the reception desk at a reduced rate $13.50 instead of $15.00 as at the station. However the internet costs could be cheaper than the $5.00 for a 1/2 hour.
“great hotel”
The staff is friendly and helpful and the location is unbeatable for the City, entertainment and parklands.
“Average experience”
There are many good mid- level hotels in Brisbane. The Rydges was not anything particular or remarkable, good or bad.
“Great hotel, great location.”
We could not find fault with the Rydges South Bank Hotel. This will be our hotel of first choice when coming to stay in Brisbane in the future.
“Everything as I hoped”
The hotel is in a great location, walking distance to the museums and the city. The staff is particularly helpful and pleasant.
“awesome, cant wait to take the whole family next time.”
Other than the initial surpise of the parking fees, the hotel and service experienced was excellent. A short walk to the South Bank parklands 4 minute walk to the mana made beach. Kids loved it, and was very relaxing.
“Very good place and very convenient to the city.”
This hotel was very convenient to the places my wife and I had to go for brief business ventures. It is in the heart of the southbank area of Brisbane, which has very nice restaurants and night life. A new convention center is going up next door, which temporarily closes one sidewalk. But I am sure its completion will make this an even better and more convenient place to stay.
“Good location, bathroom badly needs refurbishment”
The grouting in the bathroom was stained and mouldy and the tiles were marked from previous tap fittings. Not the end of the world but a disappointment in a 4 star hotel! The location was central and convenient however because of that we didn't use the balcony due to the noise of the air-con plant of the Queensland Conservatorium, which we overlooked. Not a fault of the hotel, just the downside of being in such a convenient and central location.
