“Enchanting Taj”
I stayed at this hotel for a meeting of the American Bar Assoc Board of Governors when it was the old Ritz-Carlton. It was excellent then; it may even be better today. Our room was large, most comfortable, facing on the Public Garden and with a working fireplace that staff offered to fetch wood, set and light for us. In the restaurant, the Cafe, we had a prix fixe New Year's Eve dinner that was among the very finest meals either of us has ever enjoyed; I lived in Paris many years ago, Judith grew up in Prague and we both lived in New York City most of our adult lives. New Year's morning we treated ourselves to room service breakfast - lobster omelets and the half-bottle of champagne that remained from New Year's Eve. An utterly enchanting weekend and the Taj contributed importantly to it.
“Convenient Hotel with a Boutique Feel”
This was avery friendly hotel with a boutique feel. The service was excellent. The rooms were clean and well furnished. A nice touch was the chocolate every night on your pillow. Very conveniently located just south of the Boston Common and close to the Back Bay area. Highly recommended.
“Visiting Harvard”
Perfect hotel in a spectacular location! We shopped on Newbury and ate there as well. Grille 23 and Capital Grille within walking distance on Boylston.
“Very happy with this hotel”
Great location. Elegant old-style hotel. Service was excellent. All the staff was friendly and efficient. Room was spotless. We stayed in older section of the hotel, which apparently has super thick walls, so room was very quiet. Overlooked the park with a grand views. Highly recommended. This hotel was previously the Ritz and has been well maintained, although it is reaching the point that some remodeling may be needed. The building has charm though; it is from the 1920's and they don't build them like that anymore.
“Still classy”
Overall, the experience was quite lovely. I still remember the old Ritz Carlton, however, so I believe I feel just a touch of nostalgia for it. Still, I love the location and the hotel. It brings back many happy memories. I'm glad the new owners have chosen to stay with the feel of the Ritz overall.
“Better than the standard fare”
Classic old school hotel where service is king. Decor is tasteful and amenities are aplenty. Seems to attract an older clientele, so don’t look for a trendy in-house café or bar (adequate only), but the hotel’s location right between Back Bay and Beacon Hill (and just 2 blocks from the Arlington green line “T” station) more than makes up for any perceived short comings here. In addition, for fitness enthusiests – the hotel’s fitness room (actually 2 adjoined) is big and well appointed, and the hotel is only 3 blocks from a pedestrian overpass leading to the trail the runs along the river. Great place to stay.
“The Taj is Tops”
Stayed at the Taj for one night. Everything was absolutely perfect from the car valet/check in to the spotless room. The hotel is right accross from the Boston Common and the start of the Freedom trail. Starbucks, clothing stores, and restaurants complete the neightborhood.
“Just delightful....”
From the doorman to the front desk to the waitstaff at breakfast, everyone throughout the stay, was extremely cordial and helpful..... a perfect get-a-away!!
“Charming, comfortable and welcoming”
We had a room on the city side and it was really nice and quiet. The check-in was quick and efficient. We dinned in our room once and the food was hot, tastefully presented, delicious with good portion for the price. The Concierge staff is very helpful and really took the time to explain some good location for shopping and pointed one area to stay away after dark for our safety. The only issue we had was that we didn't have a remote for the television. we called once and after 90 minutes called back to cancel as we were going to sleep. The next day we called again to get our remote and someone came in promptly with it. People in Boston are so friendly, we will make it top destination for next year too.
“Love this hotel...went twice in ten days”
Wonderful staff, great beds, delicious food, very convenient and centrally located next to the most beautiful public gardens and on the very chic Newbury street ...I love this place and will stay there everytime I'm in Boston.
