“Feel like royalty!”
This hotel gets A+++ from us! The staff was exceptional! Very helpful and made sure you had a great time and a pleasant stay. Our room was on the corner of the 4th floor overlooking New Street (which is pedestrian only area, no traffic). The room was very grand with three huge windows and lots of space! Dresser, Armoire, Desk, 2 Wingback chairs and Table and comfy queen size bed. Some of the rooms have been updated with modern decor - but we preferred the autheniticity of our room. We just wish our stay could've been longer! We will definitely return to this 4 star hotel! Public Transport from BHX: take shuttle to Birmingham Intl train station take to next stop: Birmingham New Street (approx. 10min) then a short walk from the station to the hotel. Two round-trip Virgin train tickets was 11 pounds total.
“Good hotel in Birmingham centre.”
Lovely hotel in centre of Birmingham, so handy for shopping!! Staff really helpful and friendly. We had a triple room that was spacious, extremely comfortable and very clean. We will definitely use this hotel again.
“great city centre location”
Very happy with hotel and great price on Expedia. My only quibble would be that car parking in nearest NCP car park was GBP12.50 for 24 hours. Reception did something to the ticket when I checked out to discount the parking but I was still charged the full amount
“Overall, a very good place to stay.”
Very impressive public areas - lots of marble, wrought iron, etc.Very helpful and friendly staff. Very convenient location. Could hear outside noise (building work, admittedly) despite old-fashioned double glazing - perhaps this could be upgraded. Inside hotel was quiet and relaxing. Breakfast expensive so did not have it. Nevertheless, would definitely stay there again.
“Overall a v nice place to stay”
The Burlington is great, almost a hop skip and a jump from New Street station. V clean, comfortable and the bathroom was huge. Tescos opposite was convenient when I ran out of toothpaste or was peckish. Slight drawbacks - shirty check in guy who was patronising enough that I asked my room mate to deal with him afterwards. Our room overlooked the street and could be a bit noisy even with glazing but that might be the price of such a central location. And our TV kept turning itself off and didn't appear to offer much beyond terrestrials anyway. But the negatives didn't detract overall from a v pleasant stay and so would recommend to friends. Also our deal included complimentary wine that was very drinkable on a rainy afternoon.
“Disappointing”
Reception staff very good & courteous/ helpful. Room allocated was very shabby - particularly bathroom which was quite dirty ( layers of dust ). Hotel was very busy evening of our stay and was very noisy late on at bedtime
“Location the only saving grace”
For the price, you can get a better room and far better service in the centre of Brimingham. The hotel is out-dated and the staff were rude. The only plus side is the proximatey to the shops and New Street station. Would not use again.
“Don't pick a night to stay when they clean the pavements outside!”
Once every 6 months the council steam cleans the pavements outside the hotel. If you are as unlucky as I was you will spend a night listening to the noise of a steam generator outside your window - sleep is impossible. This isn't the hotel's fault directly but they seem to do little to manage what is a regular occurence and must surely cost them business. I won't risk it again.
