The Ambre delivered on many fronts and its reputation lies very squarely on its staff. We had excellent service throughout our stay , lots of choice for meals, lots of sun beds (although there was the rush to secure them pretty early and then disappear off to other areas leaving a lack of the more popular ones) The biggest bug bear for us was the smokers around the pool. There is a dedicated smoking area just outside reception but most smokers lit up at their sun beds....cigarettes, pipes and even little thin cigars. It spoiled the holiday for us...we just couldnt get away from the smoke. The hotel (while well run and with the beautiful hard working anazing people) was not luxury...it was old and tired in many places..we changed rooms on rhe 1st day due to issues. I tripped outside the gym and fell cutting my knee which was caused by an uneven raised flagstone. We loved the view and the weather even the rain....but it wasnt quite as amazing as it looks on photos and videos we saw before we came. Many thank to the staff. They really are amazing.

The service was horrible right from the start. We even asked to talk to the manager, but the only justification I understood was that all this was happening because we booked through a third party and not direct with the hotel.

Absolutely amazing stay . The suite was amazing with 2 larges rooms and 1 large bathroom and 1 shower room which was great as we could stay all together mother Dad and 20 years old son . The restaurants are absolutely great and staff look after you in good manners . Food is fresh. I must say they have the best fruits to offer on daily basics. Mauritius food is the best and I will recommamd anyone to try . A special thank you to all the staff for making our stay memorable. Thank you Veema Hotess & Ravi's from Indigo - Thank you Annick from Italian Restaurant - Thank you Shahil the beach boy bringing our drinks and Thank you Dheerej who helped me to book the beach restaurant when it was fully booked. Great location, beach and pool.
All personell - regardless of catagory - from the Chefs of the main restaurant and the Beach restaurant to waitresses, beach boys and cleaning staff were friendly and helpful: top marks. Beach is excellent with palm trees. As for swimming in the ocean, consider protective swimming shoes because of corals. The pool is very good and well cleaned. For a relaxing place, we would highly recommend it!

It is very humid and uncomfortable to eat in both restaurants which have no air conditioning. The rooms and facilities were very clean and the service was great. The rooms have not been renovated and looked old.

Paradise with limitations
The beach and the pool were absolutely stunning. However, for an all inclusive resort there are many limitations that honestly don’t make a lot of sense. It would be helpful if those “limitations” were listed in the room on checkin. Room service is an additional charge. The all inclusive activities have limited hours. It seems as if some of the limitations are for the ease of the staff instead of the ease of the guests. It is also difficult to get people to bring you anything on the beach. We were there for 2 days and honestly didn’t stay at the beach long because we had to keep going back and forth to the bar.

Overall no good trained staff—no variety at the buffet —bad service and not really good food in the Italian restaurant—. Good greenfee rate for golf ile aux cerfs—but at check out they would charge us for 2 teetimes but we only played once!!!!!! Great memories
This was a wonderful rememberable trip with my sister. We have lots of great memories. We had tons of fun and literally sat back and relaxed The weather was not too great but the Hotel and staff and scenery made up for that. Thanks to Putee, Reza, Jimmy.... to many to mention. We took a 5 Island trip with Appolon Mcleod and that was stunning. Roti the Taxi driver for Ambre is very knowledgeable and he is a great tourguide The Beach staf... always ready to serve some great local Rum. We made great friends Will definately go back. Thanks Hotel.com for smooth bookings.

The property is quite spread out and there were lots of lounge chairs at the beach area. Water was quite calm although windy at this time of the year. Liked the fact that there were plates of food when we arrived at 1030 pm and a continental breakfast prepared when we had early departure. Unfortunately, only a handful of staff were friendly. most were task oriented and did not even greet you when you went for meals. besides the main restaurant there is only one other restaurant for a la carte as part of all inclusive - where twice they forgot about our desserts and even after we brought it to their attention, it was not brought (at least in a timely manner and we left in exasperation). If your room is in the 300-600 block, there is a long walk to get to your beach towels and there are no showers installed near that area for one to be able clean your feet as you come from the beach and so you are likely to trek the sand into your room. It almost seems that blocks 300 and above were built afterwards without any planning.

Perfect all inclusive resort, a little bit outdated, perfect food and stuff. What we didn't liked was a system of reservation (Italian a la cart restaurant, water sport activities) on first come first serve basis so nothing for late sleepers as we are.

Hotel was great overall. The rooms could do with a bit of updating, they are a bit basic. Food was mediocre...… nothing wonderful. Beach and facilities are good. Staff are very friendly and helpful.

Beautiful place
Beautiful place, very friendly staff. The best part maybe the opportunity to be transported out to Ile aux cerfs with golf and the private beach (included). The only downside: almost all the sunbeds (absolutely all the best ones) at the hotell are occupied even before breakfast by people putting their towels on them. And they stay occupied all day, even if the people are not there. In other places we've stayed the hotel has been more restrictive about this and have removed towels from beds that have not been in use. All in all a very nice place, and if we go back to Mauritius there is a good chance we'll return to Ambre 😊

NOT A REAL ALL INCLUSIVE!
The hotel is decent, and the staff very polite and friendly, and it's GREAT that there are no children allowed,...BUT that's where it ends! There is nothing around the hotel, no stores, no shops, nothing. So, unless you want to keep taking a taxi, you're pretty much stuck at the hotel. We were given a free upgrade in the room, but it was on the 3rd floor, and climbing stairs is NOT good for my knee, as there was no lift. Then, they put us in a room on the ground floor, but it was quite a ways away from the main building. Again, a lot of walking, not good for my knee. We were offered a closer room, but not until 3 days b4 we were to leave! The food is so so ok, but VERY much lacking when they have a 'SPECIAL" food night! There are NO organized activities at all! True they offer paddle boats, windsurfing, etc., but NOTHING to get people involved with one another! And NOTHING AT NIGHT ! You can get anything to DRINK any time of the day,...BUT, in between meals? There is NOTHING to snack on ANYWHERE! The taxi service from the hotel is a bit on the high side too, as well as the tours offered. We have been to MANY other All Inclusives in Mexico and the Caribbean, and by far, this was the WORST!

However, we wish to inform you that we have themed dinners served every night at our main restaurant, Indigo, and a table d'hote menu every Wednesdays & Saturdays at our Italian restaurant, Dolce Vita. Indeed, the third restaurant on the beach, La Plage, is not included in the all-inclusive package but the drinks from the all-inclusive can be ordered over there and only the food is paying. We also wish to inform you that we have afternoon tea served with snacks served at our H&H Lounge everyday as from 15.00hrs until 17.00hrs which is part of the all-inclusive package. With regards to the vicinity, the Belle Mare village is only 25 minutes within walking distance where souvenir shops, clothing shops and local shops are found. Also, there is an exchange bureau which is available there. We hope you will give us the opportunity to regain your faith in our resort. Certainly not four star needs lots of maintenance and updating. Drinks were good but food hit and miss. Breakfast buffet ok but the a-la-carte Italian restaurant was woeful. Accessibility was lacking and getting a wheelchair around was difficult. Some staff were very helpful, especially the managers. Stray dogs were allowed to roam in the resort and feral birds in the restaurants. We saw rats in the restaurant and outside. Smokers had the best places around the pool etc. Very difficult to get a reasonable price taxi to anywhere. The Coral bar was nice with good views.

The best part was that it was adults only and all inclusive with food and drinks. Certainly not four star level. Maintenance needed on the property, a complete update needed. Smokers had the best places around the pool etc and we were disgusted that stray dogs were allowed to roam in the resort and feral birds in the restaurants. We saw rats in the restaurant. Very lacking in provision for accessibility for wheelchair access. Security at the gate and reception staff did not communicate making it an ordeal for guests to access the resort. On a good note some staff were very helpful and the drinks were well supplied. The breakfast buffet Waa ok but the a-la-carte Italian restaurant was woeful. Impossible to get a decent cup of tea or coffee.

Staff was mostly nice and welcoming but often not well trained - took long time to get service in bar, buffet and reception. Finally when service was given it was hit and miss. Housekeeping was the best service we got, except for the mini fridge refills which happen late in the day and don't give enough water. We had to request extra water on a few occasions. Room was small, smelled like mold and was very basic. Had mosquitos. Shower didn't have door and water leaked on the floor. Location of room was far from reception and main pool / bar/ food areas. When booking the room we didn't know it was that far, approx 3-4 minute walk. Information was not shared on the site when booking. Had to walk outside to get to those areas without shade/cover. So if it rained, which it did, you got rained on. They do provide an umbrella however but then you have to lug that around. If it was hot and humid (humidity of 90-100%) you got stuck walking in the sun. I'm pregnant and nearly fainted on my way back to the room one morning as it was too hot and I was dehydrated. Overall facilities - nice pool area and beach. Buffet restaurant (part of All Inclusive) didn't have any cover from birds and they came in regularly to steal food from floor, tables, plates. We even saw them poop near the food once. Some areas were hotter than others and had poor air circulation. Not air conditioned. Food - same staff/chefs in all restaurants. Quality is 4-6 out of 10. Bland & undercooked. Worm in Mango

Beautiful hotel with fantastic staff
My husband and I spent a week at the resort and would love to head back again! The amenities were great, the food was good the staff were really fantastic. A special note to our housekeeper Maunick who was super friendly and accommodating even giving us a special treat the one day. Our check in was quick and easy and we loved the watermelon sushi we received on arrival. We had an issue with our flights going there but the hotel staff was great at accommodating the last minute transfer changes and check in times. We were also upgraded to an ocean view room with a balcony! Many thanks to all the people. Fantastic weeks vacation at a superb resort

Nice stay
We had a nice stay despite the bad weather. We were there for Easter and there were lots of entertainment around. Good variety of food and nice staff. But there is still way for improvement

We booked the Courtyard room which isn't very nice as it's far away and facing another building. The garden view room was much better. Otherwise a nice resort with decent facilities. The pool should've had a bar in it rather than next to it.

Overall Experience
Hotel is in a nice location, stunning views over the ocean. Bedroom was nice, but didn't have a balcony, which was disappointing. Ample Sun Loungers at the poolside and on the beach, but not of great quality. Watersport facilities and Hotel Gym were very good. The all inclusive package was good, although the food in all the restaurants was average at best.

Simply Stunning Ambre Resort
Ambre is simply breathtaking. The resort is simply stunning and the Beach is beautiful and blue. The staff are so friendly and attentive. It is honestly one of the most beautiful resorts I have been to. Highly recommend Ambre.

Good but could be better
The hotel location was good ( 1 hour from the airport by car ), however you cannot really enjoy the beach in the front of the hotel because of the rocks and tides, you have to take a walk and you will find a great place to swim. You have to wake up early in order to hold your place on the beach, they should find a solution for that. The pool was nice and the service around the bars was not bad (may be with more staff ...). You can see a dog walking next to you while taking your diner which might be annoying for some guests. I did not like the terrace as it was small and when you sit the wall in front will hide the view. Also the seperation in the bathroom was not a good idea.

Wonderful relaxing beach holiday.
Ambre was always on my shortlist to visit. Finally got the opportunity to go and, WOW, I am highly impressed with what we got. The ALL INCLUSIVE plan works for us and at Ambre they understand the concept. From the desk staff, waiters and cleaning staff to the Management, they all went the extra mile to ensure our stay was something to remember. It is a huge facility with almost 300 rooms and 600 guests but my wife and I felt that we were treated with special individual care and attention. Ravi in the INDIGO restaurant even prepared my wife a special ginger tea at breakfast when she came down with the flu. Vanessa at reception made sure we did not have to wait for our room because we arrived early and we checked into our room 2 hours earlier than normal check-in time. On our departure both me and my wife got a hug from her to bid us a safe journey back home - as you expect from family after a visit. Booking through Expedia was well organized and the customer relations dept contacted us a week prior to arrival to verify our arrival time. Special requests was no problem to them and we got, what I consider, one of the best rooms (238). Thank you for an excellent holiday.

This hotel cost every dollar you spend on it! Very friendly staff and nice beach! For sure will come back next year! Be aware of shopping outside hotel it's not safe.

Fantastic hotel and amazing holiday.
This is a beautiful hotel on what must be the best beach on the island. We stayed in the suite and can only recommend this as a room choice - it was totally worth the extra cost. Pool is beautiful and beach restaurant was the stand out for meals. We loved every minute of it and can definately recommend this hotel.

Relaxing stay
Hotel was very good value for money. The all-inclusive does not dissappoint, the food is good and more than enough choice. Staff is very friendly, maybe not always as fast as you might hope but hey we are on holiday. Watersport and other sports (and lessons) are free of charge and there is entertainment every evening.

Amazing Hotel, great location.
We went on our honeymoon and had such an amazing time at the Ambre. The staff are second to none... this hotel would be 5 star if they put a heater in the pool for winter months and the rooms, furniture, beach loungers etc were a little updated.

Excellent Hospitality
Ambre Resort lived up to its publicity. The pool and beach are clean and attractive. The food was outstanding. The room was very spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We celebrated a special wedding anniversary and were treated to sparkling wine and canapes in our room, followed by a specially created four course seafood dinner in a romantic setting on the beach. There was even a delicious chocolate cake to celebrate. Our departing flight was delayed by several hours and the staff arranged for us to extend our checkout time. We had a very happy relaxing break.
