Property Amenities
Through revolving doors, the Penta Hotel Beijing’s mostly Chinese, and some North American, corporate visitors and weekend leisure guests enter a lobby with floors patterned in black and white marble, and large abstract paintings on the walls. The reception desk with multilingual staff is to the right, backed by an artistically lit wall of white glass panels. To the left lies the lobby lounge, to the rear the business centre, while up the escalators on the second level lie restaurants and an entrance to the adjacent New World shopping complex. The hotel offers numerous amenities including concierge services, currency exchange, wireless Internet access. For business travelers hotel features an Internet point and wired Internet access(surcharge), 240 square meters of conference facilities include 4 meeting rooms. The pentalounge hosts a cafè dining, a noodle bar, a library, a living room, and a games area.
Head north from the Penta Hotel Beijing and the contemporary energy of China is on show along Wangfujing, the capital’s most renowned shopping street. To the north, however, lie the Back Lakes, surrounded by a meandering network of old alleyways and courtyard (hutong) houses that have so far survived redevelopment. A wander through the neighbourhood gives travellers a glimpse of street life, and a flavour of imperial China that has now largely been confined to palaces and museums.
Penta Hotel Beijing is conveniently located just two minutes away from the Chongwenmen metro station and around 10 minutes by metro from Beijing Central Business District. Other nearby attractions are Tiananmen Square, Hongqiao Pearl Market, and Tongren Hospital.

“New experience”
Very interesting experience for us. This hotel is other, then all the hotels we stayed before. Enough place in room, clean, good service, original breakfast and very friendly staff. Good location- only 3 station from Tiananmen or Tiantan by subway, Chongwenmen metro station is really 3 minutes walking distance. There is entrance to World Trade Centre on the 5 th floore of hotel, so there you could make shopping or visit spa centre-swimming pool 15 m, massage (oil, foot, body), sauna. As minus not good English by Chinese staff, but 2-3 Chinese managers speak fluent.
“Great intro to Beijing for two Canadian seniors.”
We arrived from Perth after 1 a.m. totally exhausted on Jan 25. The young man on the desk spoke good English and he handled promptly and successfully the few problems that we encountered. Throughout our three night stay all staff members were polite and helpful. The breakfast was quite satisfactory and the staff even put up with late comers (i.e. after 10 a.m.) although the buffet pickings were admittedly much slimmer by then. The hotel is quite close to a reasonably priced and very efficient subway system. The "downtown" location meant that we were in walking distance of the major tourist sites - Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven, the Square, the Silk and Pearl markets, and North American brand clothing stores. And for those addicted to fast food, McDonalds, Burger King,Dairy Queen etc. The hotel is undergoing some renovations and will be even better soon. There was a free internet access and the cost was very reasonable.
“Avoid if possible.”
I was there during the second week of April,2011, and been there when managed by Marriott as Courtyard by Marriott. Totally different under Penta's management; seems like to cater for locals or Chinese language speakers only. No proper bell boys; breakfast is simply not worth a dime. Ladies(Yes, the ladies; the boys are simply good for nothing) from front desk are 'very' helpful. At the moment, under Penta's management, location can be, or is, the only reason to stay. Avoid, if possible. Novotel is stone throw away from Penta.
