“Charming oasis in a big, bustling city”

A unique, charming oasis in a big, bustling city. Well maintained, with a rich, historical feel. Surrounded by a vibrant and interesting neighborhood of shops and restaurants. Rooms spacious, well decorated, and modern. The only challenge is that the staff do not speak much English, although they are better at it than I am at speaking Mandarin! They are attentive and helpful though.

“A treasure”

This hotel was absolutely wonderful! Staff gave a whole new meaning to service by going out of their way to meet my needs as a business traveler. I arrived stressed and tired. I left refreshed and relaxed. The ‘off the beaten path’ location wasn’t always the most convenient, but the provision of a quiet retreat and an authentic glimpse into Chinese culture totally made up for that. This is the type of delightful experience that is sadly all too often missing from the business traveler’s generic and practical hotel choice.

“Best small hotel in China.”

Remarkable, peaceful hotel and great value. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the owners have gone to great effort and expense with the re-construction of the hotel. The architectural detail matches that of the summer palace and the place is filled with antique furniture and fittings. Great location in amongst the hutongs.
