Lovely open grounds surround the old nurses quarters which have a dormitory type accommodation feel. Plenty of character and history with the building, and the staff also present as interesting characters. 'Deano' was friendly and very accommodating during our overnight stay. Room was a good size, and had a spacious bathroom with large shower. Some renovations and fresh paint would improve the place, but found it good value at the price.

Amazing customer service from Deano! Not who I’d normally expect on a concierge desk, but wow! He’s got so much personality! He knows his job and does it well. The who venue looks a little haunted which was cool with the ghost tours of the asylum nearby. The place is neat and tidy. Happy to have stayed hear.

Restful stop over.
Our stay for one night was good. We like buildings with history and a story. This Art Deco building is just that. The rooms & bed are comfortable. Beechworth is a lovely town with plenty of options for coffee and eats.

Great location, great (heritage) building, great rooms. Minor glitches were remedied quickly and cheerfully. However the lack of Wifi in rooms needs attention.

We loved everything about the building, including the authentic art deco restoration, the relaxed vibe, the beautiful grounds and the short drive from Linaker into town which each time provided a gorgeous view of the centre of town. The manager Dean was professional, helpful and thoughtful and all in all, a real treasure.

Evidently once quite a grand property. However, it now might be reasonably described as a faded gem, well in need of a tart up and some maintenance. The room was well appointed, of a decent size and comfortable, but the curtains were coming off their tracks, there was mildew high up in one of the windows and the whole place felt a bit last its best-by date. Sad, really; it could’ve been so much nicer.

Very much liked the two bedroom setup. The grounds are amazing as is the history of the site. It's walkable to the shops and lake. Staff were very friendly.

The property on the outside was amazing but to charge the prices we paid it was very much a 2 standard of decor and the presentation was terrible. I found the front desk man wonderful full of character and very welcoming you just need to look at your pricing if you are not going to update the interals

The art deco building is lovely, have stayed there 6years ago. The place has new owner and is looking very tired and run down. There is no way to contact them as phone number is for hotel down road and email adios not monitored so you cannot submit feedback. The guy running place was hard to find as I rang bell half dozen times and he was nowhere to be seen. We got there just after 2pm rooms were freezing and only had small wall heaters. You would think they would turn them on when they have rooms booked. It's middle of winter in Victoria it's not warm it's cold to freezing outside. My daughter and I had to clean down all surfaces which were covered with thick dust. There was cobwebs and broken furniture. The sheets on bed looked dirty I waited to talk to manager as he was busy with arriving guests, by time everyone was checked in he was gone. I paid over $170 a night I expected something a lot better considering they don't even do breakfast. Very disappointed and wanted part refund which they won't do. Be careful as you don't get refund if not happy or you want to cancel a night. Would only give it half 🌟

The heating didn’t work, the rooms were freezing. When we told reception they said oh good we knew some weren’t working.. so gave us an electric heater to use which was a waste of space it didn’t warm the room at all. Won’t stay here again.

Lovely hotel with nice Art Deco finishes in a very quiet area of Beechworth. It was very difficult to find in the dark as there are no street lights and lots of one way signs that were confusing. When we did find it with the help of the staff at hotes.com the front door was locked earlier than the stated time. After two phone calls the receptionist ceas found and was very apologetic and helpful. Thankyou to the staff at Hotels.com who stay on the phone with us until it was sorted out.

Weekend Getaway
We had a family/Friends weekend away. We stayed here for the excitement of staying in an old asylum. The room was set out great we love a separate lounge to bedroom. The staff members we saw were friendly. The facilities were basic. The cleanliness of the rooms could’ve been better. But for the amount of time we spent in the rooms it really wasn’t an issue. Beds and pillows were comfortable.

I really enjoyed the history of this property. It shows what it was like to live in nurses quarters and the rooms they are provided when they live on campus. It's a lot more modern for us today but for them it would have been very basic. I know it's a little small but it was quaint and enjoyable. I don't mind odd or scuff marks but it did need a little more care to cleaning detail.
