“Charming Hotel in the heart of Bath”
We stepped off the train in Bath Spa and walked about a minute to beautiful pre-Georgian row of buildings, in which we found our quaint hotel. The greeters at the front desk were extrememely helpful and friendly. The spacious room was delightful and tastefully decorated with a touch of whimsy and color. The bathroom was along a small passageway in the room and was also quite spacious and very clean. I can't say enough about the location of this hotel. It was right in the heart of it all. A stone's throw from all you would want to see: the Roman Bath, Bath Abbey and the town center. Easy access to dining and plenty of cafe's. Even very late in the evening, it was quick and easy to find a place to eat. The breakfast at the hotel is an excellent value. Set in a lovely dining room, there's a lovely little buffet set up with plenty to choose from --and once again with charming staff. We loved our stay in Bath at the Halcyon!
“Wonderful, relaxing, everything you look for”
Absolutely loved our stay - the perfect host to our romantic getaway. My husband and I found the staff helpful and very cheerful. They lent us umbrellas in the infrequent rain. Great restaurant recommendations.
“Our stay”
I had booked this hotel for my partners birthday . I booked a standard plus room as I wanted the best room available and the reviews said some of the rooms were quite small. The staff were very helpful and friendly on the telephone and in person. However when we were shown to our room I was disappointed as it was very small and also smelt damp. We went out to the bath spa and on reflection I decided to ask if there was a better room when we got back. We were then shown 2 studio rooms which were much better and more what I was expecting so we chose the best of these and was happy to pay £10 extra for a bigger and better room. We had plenty of space, a fantastic shower and the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. We wanted to stay another night but unfortunately I had to return home for work the next day!
“Great Hotel”
The Haylcon was a wonderful place to stay it was so central, you could walk to most places in Bath within 5 minutes. The staff were great really helpful and so pleasant, the room was so cosy, we were in the loft so had great views out of the window over the roof~tops. We would go to Bath again as its such an interesting City, and we would definately stay at The Haylcon again.
“great hotel in ideal location”
A classic Georgian townhouse in a great location close to railway station, river and shops. Very helpful staff. Lovely breakfast in the bar downstairs. Our twin room was fairly small but nice decor.
“The Halcyon, not a value hotel.”
Not up to the price tag. No parking facilty on site, nearest overnight parking nearly half a mile away at £12.50 per night extra. No lifts for a three storey hotel is poor. No wardrobes in room. Choice of breakfast was poor for the money being paid, no cooked breakfasts here. No fridge in room and lack of milk for a nice cup of tea, after the first one has gone down.
