"The hotel is in an excellent location right in middle of town within walking distance of everything Basingstoke has to offer. Reception and eating areas we're modern and clean and the breakfast was very good with lots of options. The reception staff were excellent very friendly and helpful. The only thing was the room although clean and well presented was a little dated and could possibly do with being modernised. If this was done it would definitely improve its 3 star rating in my opinion."

"As others have mentioned, the hotel does look a little dated, but it is clean, which is the most important thing. For most guests, it's simply a place to sleep for the night rather than somewhere to spend extended periods of time. The staff on check-in Saturday were quite abrupt. They weren't rude, but they lacked the customer-focused approach you would normally expect in a customer-facing role. In contrast, the staff on Sunday were absolutely superb and made me feel like a VIP. The English breakfast buffet was decent and certainly sets guests up well for the next leg of their journey. Continental breakfast options are also available. However, the hotel signage advertised breakfast at £12.50 per person, yet I was charged £15.00. Similarly, the official website currently advertises free parking, but I was charged £20 (£10 per 24 hours). The increase in breakfast cost and the unexpected parking charge didn't affect my budget, but I can understand why many guests would find this frustrating. If the advertised prices and parking information are no longer accurate, they should be updated accordingly. I would stay again if I had to, but it would not be my first choice."
