“Very clean and great location”
Excellent location, close to train station. Small room but very well set up and very clean. Table and chairs on landing can be used as well. Friendly staff. Trams right outside the hotel door with free transit passes included with room. Free Wi-Fi. Breakfasts expensive but stores and restaurants close by. If you are unable to climb stairs, make sure you specify a room on lower level. Ours was accessed by 2 flights of stairs. I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.
“Fine for a night or 2”
This hotel is very close to the train station, which we found to be very convenient (we travelled to Basel by train). The room rates are very affordable too. Inside the decor is colourful and bright, which was nice to come back to, as we visited during the bleak, grey Winter. Our room was clean & tidy, but very small - but it was fine for 2 nights. As a light sleeper, I did not get a good night's sleep (both nights). It's a rather old building and the floorboards creak. Our room was close to the staircase and I woke up continually from the noise of the people going up & down. I could also hear the people in the room above us - even hear when they flushed their toilet. We also did not like that our double bed had 2 single sized duvet covers.
“Excellent but with reservations”
There's a lot good about this hotel. It's a great location, the staff are superb the room was clean and comfortable and it's excellent value. In some circumstances though there can be drawbacks. I had a single room which is was (and as a regular budget hotel user I've plenty to compare it with). The result is that a shelf used for hanging clothes protrudes dangerously above the small desk and suitcase storage area. Very easy to bang your head against it, which I did. Also it has a weird configuration of floors. If you're unlucky, which I was, you have go by lift some of the way and then continue up a flight of precarious stairs. A bit tricky with a suitcase. I left too early for breakfast but can't comment on that. So if you're going to book a double room and don't have luggage or mind a bit of a climb I would guess it's perfect. Otherwise best to make a few enquiries before booking.
