“Beautiful hotel in a beautiful city”
Lovely hotel ! The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful.Late morning construction noise inside the hotel was annoying but I presume doesn"t happen on a regular basis.
“Hilton Basel - Great Place to Stay”
We were in Basel from Friday to Sunday in August. The Hilton Basel was an excellent choice. It is hard to imagine a better buy for the money. The hotel is close to the central train station, the staff are very helpful and the room we had was comfortable. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet that came with the Expedia deal, particularly since eating, along with everything else, can be pricey even in ordinary times for the Swiss Franc (which August 2011 was not!). The pass from the hotel gave us free access to the tram system, which is extensive and convenient. This was particularly helpful since Basel's old section is a must see - kids will love the Tinguely Fountain - and basel is a city of museums. We also had religious needs, which the staff went out of their way to satisfy. So, we will definitely recommend this hotel to friends.
“The Basel Hilton”
This was my first time visiting Switzerland and could not have asked for a better hotel. It is actually closer to the station that the Expedia map suggests - about 45 seconds walk, it is literally across the road from the main station. The only one small negative is that not all of the staff are conversant in English as you would expect from a five star hotel, but certainly not a big enough quibble to stop me staying here agin.
“Excellent base for sightseeing”
The hotel is ideally placed for sightseeing in Basel as it is only a short and comfortable walk to the centre of Basel, the Rhine and Basel old town. It is also close to various tram stops for different routes as well as the train station and the stop for the airport bus. In other words, we could not have found a more suitable location for our needs. The service and breakfast were exactly as you would expect from a 5 star hotel. The room was very comfortable and quiet. We certainly plan to return!
“Basel Hilton during Fasnacht.”
I am a regular visitor to Basel and make a point of returning each year for their Fasnacht (Carnival). This is though the first time of staying at the Hilton. The hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. The rooms could be considered 'small' but clean and well refurbished. The gym and pool area were small for the size of the hotel and really would have been a problem had there been more using it. Fortunately because of Fasnacht most people were at the cartnival and therefore were not using the facilities. I didn't use the bar as my colleague with whom I was travelling had access to the Executive lounge. That I have to say was impressive but equally quite small for something that was considered to be so exclusive.
“A very nice clean hotel”
Very nice and clean hotel. We stayed on the executive floor which included the use of the lounge. The staff was extremly helpful and friendly. It is worth the extra cost. The only negative I can say is the rooms are very small for a luxury hotel.
“Good experience overall, with pluses and minuses”
I arrived 8am - having warned them of the same - and no room was available to me. But I was able to freshen up in the sauna/pool area where there were shower and shave facilities. This set me up well for my day. I was attending meetings at the BIS building which is literally the other side of the road from the Hilton. This is its main USP for me. Finally two warnings: 1) there is no free wired or wifi access to the internet, which is a big shame as they could so easily bundle it into the price. 2) Basel power supplies use the very unusual and non-standard Swiss three rounded prong plugs which I've only ever seen in Geneva before. Your usual power adaptors are rendered useless.

This hotel looks really old and the girl at the bar was very rude.
