“Good hotel at the right price”
Stayed 3 nights and enjoyed reasonably convenient hotel. It looks new and clean. Easy access, less than 10 minutes walking, to any major attraction along the Rambla. The surrounding neighborhood may feel inconvenient to some, though we had no problem. Great breakfast. Overall, we recommend that hotel.
“can't go wrong with this one”
nice and clean. excellent location.
“Impressive!”
Great hotel! Use the local restaurants to eat at. They are less than half the cost of those in the more touristy areas. Staff is exceptional.
“Visit Barcelona!”
My wife and I had a wonderful time in Barcelona, and this hotel put us close to all of the action! Could easliy walk to La Rambla and the two hop-on, hop-off bus routes. Room was right on a busy street, Parallel, so a little noisy, but that added to the ambiance. Visit Spain - it was fun!

“Barcelona bargain”
Great location. Metro is right outside the hotel front door. Rooms are beautifully lined in wood.
“Great Hotel”
Great value for money. Though not the cheapest option, it's very close to the heart of Barcelona and sits on top of a metro station. The room was very clean and well maintained and though it wasn't very big it was more than enough for 2 guests. The bathroom is also very clean and has a very appealing look. The staff was great and the room service prices were very reasonable. The breakfast, however, was a bit disappointing (for 15 Euros I expect a bit more selection).
“Good hotel. Excellent location”
My husband and I stayed at the Universal Hotel for 4 nights. The hotel is located on a main street, right on top of the Paral.Lel metro station. The street is well lit and always with people so it felt safe to walk at night. It's close to the marina, the Ramblas and the Gothic Quarter - a very short walk. Breakfast was very nice as well and the staff was nice and extremely helpful. We were on the 8th floor so I assume lower floors facing the street may be a little noisy but we hardly heard street noises (except for an occasional ambulance). The room was nice, clean and a decent size, equipped with a safe, a large bathtub and even a bide. Note that they don't have real double beds - they connect two beds together, but when they added a blanket under the sheet we hardly felt it. Overall - we enjoyed our stay very much.
“Great Hotel”
After a long flight and transfer to the hotel it was nice to be greeted outside by a ported who carried all our luggage inside. We were early by 4 hours but they checked us into our rooms (two rooms), The persons checking us in were very nice and helpful. Our room was very nice, comfortable and well maintained. We had lunch in the hotel restaurant and breakfast. All meals were outstanding. Breakfast and lunch had a very large selection to chose from. We stayed two days. We asked the desk person to help us get transportation to the cruise terminal and it showed promply. We would recommend this hotel to our friends and look forward to our next stay also.
“Excellent Choice!”
Overall, Hotel Barcelona Universal is Outstanding! The service (front desk, breakfast buffet, turn-down, front door) was amazing. Most of the staff spoke English fluently, and I know that there were staff members that spoke French, Russian, German, and Italian as well. The front desk was always accommodating, and went above and beyond to answer any questions my wife and I had; they were not only knowledgeable about the hotel, Barcelona as a whole, but also about tours and opening/closing hours of museums/attractions that had no affiliation with the hotel. The breakfast buffet was well worth the price. Not only was the selection great, but all of the food & juice tasted amazing. The hours were convenient as well 7-11AM. The location of the hotel was also excellent. It is 10 meters away from the Metro, which will take you almost anywhere you need to go in the city. It's a 5-10 minute walk from La Rumbla (if you take your time), and, as others have mentioned, has many Bars & Restaurants within 100 meters of the front door. The prices at these places are far better than their competition on La Rumbla, and the food is just as good (my wife said the Calamari was better). The room we stayed in - Standard Double - was very large according to European standards. There was a desk, 2 chairs, mini-bar/fridge, a small table, a double bed, 2 bedside tables, and a full closet with a small safe. The bathroom had a full bath/shower, a make-up stool/mirror, and more. Excellent Choice...
