“How to find it.”

Difficult to find if another traveller hadn't told me to look above the business school. The entrance door is in the middle of the business school flags, a wooden door with an intercom, Close to the main square, within 5-10 minutes, depending on your speed of walking, A small bar opens across the road ,to the right, at night where you can get coffee or a drink and takeaway and decaf coffee. Check out the restaurants around this area as they are good value.

“Barcelona Bargain”

This place is great and very cheap - don't put off by the fact that it is a 'Hostal', it has so much character and is just as private as a hotel as long as you don't mind sharing a loo or bathroom (I think there were en suite rooms too though). Lovely helpful staff, quiet street, in a lovely old Barcelona mansion block, room was fine, clean, big with a balcony, the bathrooms (we had a shared loo but a shower in the room) were clean and modern, and it was not far to most of the main attractions.

“Good to go....”

If you're looking for a nice, clean, well-managed, quiet, cheap place to stay in a good location - then this is for you. I was very satisfied with my 2 night stay there. Not a place to stay for a long time I think, but a great place to land and have as a home base for your Barcelona adventure. Very well-located. Only 2 blocks from Orquinaona metro station (if you can pronounce it, then you can get there), and 4 blocks from Catalunya station. This pension was especially clean and quiet, and rooms were basic but very comfortable. The pension is located on floor marked "1o", so when you take the elevator push that button, as there is no sign when you get inside main front door of building. "Maria" or one of the other people who will answer door and check you in, will give you your own set of keys to downstairs front door, pension main door, and your bedroom door. This way you can come and go as you please on your own. Also the neighborhood is very quiet and feels very safe. I would give this place a definite "thumbs up".

“Great accommodation on a budget”

The Hostal Girona was a wonderful place to stay. It is very close to the Plaza Cataluña and the metro stop at Plaza Urquinaona is only two blocks away. The staff is personable and friendly, and the room, while basic, was perfectly comfortable and clean. My room was a single with a balcony and shared bath--but don't let that turn you off! There are two shared bathrooms down the hall and the rooms have a sink in them, so you only need to go to the common bathrooms for the toilet or a shower. I never saw anyone else on the way to the bathroom, either, so it seemed very private. I was in Barcelona on a research trip, so having a quiet place to study was imperative, and both the hotel and the neighborhood were ideal in that respect. My room had a desk and I never heard any of the neighbors at all, and although I was there on New Year's Eve, I heard very little street noise either. The hotel also has free Wifi available in the rooms. I would definitely stay there again--the price was amazing, and while the hotel is pretty basic in terms of amenities, it was very comfortable and quiet. And as a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe in the neighborhood, even while coming and going at night.

“Cheap but luxurious”

Clean and tidy hostel in a central location. Shared toilet facilities were both modern and spotless. Room was spacious with two good twin beds, clean sink, mirror, working plasma tv and small fully functional shower.

“Loved this place!”

Very good location, room was comfy (small, but that is normal in Europe). For the price in an overpriced city like Barcelona I thought it was an excellent value. Highly recommended.

“Amazing building”

Really great little hostel. Amazing interior to the building, really striking. Staff were very friendly, (gave us 20% cash refund due to temporary building work meaning we couldn't open our window). Location is very easy to find, and reasonably central. Will definitely stay here again. Very fast free wifi too (10mbps)

“A Definite must! Ridiculously good value.”

I booked Hostal Girona with an extremley tight budget, with low expectations. However, this place was FANTASTIC! It had all the charm of Spain and was very clean and tidy. Roughly 10 mins walk from the main Catalunya Square and the Ramblas. We had booked a room with a shared bathroom which was no problem at all, as all facilities were new and extremely well kept. The Ladies at Girona even kept hold of our bags on the final day free of charge. Would recommmend to anyone. Superb.

“value for money”

Very central hostal and value for money. We took the option of a standard room. The room itself was a decent size but the shower was a tight squeeze. We were only in Barcelona for three days so it suited us fine but if staying longer or prefer more comfort I would suggest going for a superior room. Air conditioner remote was broken so we only had one temp, fortunately it was set at a comfortable temp. The staff were very nice and although they all apologise for their poor English we had no problems communicating. Hostal is on the same street as some outlet stores, great if you were wanting to shop :)

“"Esoteric Little Hotel"”

An esoteric little hotel about 15mins walk from Las Rambla. The rooms are comfy and clean, with air conditioning and TVs, wifi with not awful speeds and a mostly quiet area.
