Cons: -Building was old and not well maintained. -Bathrooms could have been cleaner. Pros: -Staff were friendly and helpful -the location couldn’t be better!!! It’s right next to a BTS train station and a major road, making transportation by train, tuk tuk, taxi, or motorcycle easy. -Also only a few minutes walk away from some large malls. -lots of restaurants nearby Great option if you want an affordable base while you explore the city

Best Location in Bangkok
If your in need of a basic room to rest the head of a night, but require to be in the best location in Bangkok right on BTS Chidlom SkyTrain Station, well this hotel is for you and for this reason exactly why we booked our 3 night stay here.... Location is central to everything in Bangkok and hotel located in a lovely quiet little street that many wouldnt know existed..

The photos on the website were out of date. The hotel was old and in fare condition. The location was very close to all you would ever need in Bangkok.

Not Good The internet in the hotel room was very bad. Was difficult to do any work at all in the room. I complained to the front desk and was told that if it does not work in the room there is nothing they can do. I was told to use the internet in the lobby. Now, that may be fine for some but that solution does not work for myself. This is a hotel where it seems very obvious that the owner of the hotel reinvests very little of the profit in any sort of hotel upkeep or renovation. Something simple like the carpet in the elevator, it looks like it is about 40 years old. The room was clean but had a bug spray smell to it. Conventional bug spray of course is very carcinogenic. Hallways can be very noisy because of the hardwood floors. I have no plans to return to this hotel because of their lack of good internet and in addition their attitude towards making the internet work. It all stems from the owner. Some hotel owners fail to recognize that travelers these days must have internet. If the internet was to suddenly stop at the hotel front desk one could be assured the hotel owner would be all over repairing that problem. Good luck

Location is wonderful - near Erawan Shrine, public transit, and big shopping malls. Good value for the money in that area, and room was spacious and quiet enough. In room safe didn't work, and soap bar not provided. Next door is a nice massage place.

Small hotel that looks nothing like the photos
We decided not to stay as we didn't feel safe especially my wife and daughters as the room locks in my opinion were easily opened and there were people hanging about the small lobby area.

Tatty run down room. 2pm check in with no flexibility. Hourly rates for check out extensions. Hmmmm My big disappointment is that this was pushed as a hotels.com special deal. Glad I was only there for one night

Thought it would be a convenient stay
I checked in at the hotel to receive a room that had very outdated decor and throw pillows on the bed that looked worn and probably not like they should still be there. I tried to ignore the pervading smell that was in the room - musty, slightly smoky despite the no smoking signs in the room - and took a shower. On the ceiling was a large patch of dark mold, and then, as I showered, millipede-like critters started crawling around in the shower (I had thought them mold patches). One went down the drain and the other hung out. I got out immediately, and by that point, the air con had made the smell in the room worse. I requested another room immediately, but no one seemed overly concerned that insects were in the shower or that the room smelled. I ended up in a room on a higher floor which was marginally better. At least the decor was a bit better and the smell wasn't so pronounced. I was there for two nights and not at a cheap rate. I've stayed in many hotels in BKK and in Thailand, and this wasn't one I'd recommend.

Great location, convenient to get BTS-chon lon and walking distance to 4 faced buddha temple and shopping malls But not many taxi know the hotel coz its in the alley Easier if tell them get you Holiday inn beside or BST chon lon then you find ur hotel nearby. Generally good value for the location n simple stay to rest after a long day. Foot or body massage beside lobby is 500baht w 10% discount n a tip is appreciated.

A nice budget hotel, highly recommended.
The hotel premise is erected in a quiet alley in the vibrant ratchaprasong district, and a 2-min walk from/to Chitlom BTS station. The room was spacious. The shower faucet worked well, and the water was strong. The wifi signal in my room was not so strong but was never intermittent. Basically you have everything you need as a hotel room, nothing fancy though. With it's room rate, you could never possibly ask for more. Will stay there again.

Golden House Is What It Is
If you're looking for a 5 star hotel for a 3 star price, the Golden House is not for you. But if you're looking for a clean, comfortable and centrally located place to stay for a few days, the Golden House may be the hotel for you. It's located off the main road so it's quiet. Fifty feet and a flight of stairs, you're at the door of the sky train which can take you to just about any part of Bangkok. Three major malls are within a short walking distance of the Golden House. Fast food restaurants, convenience stores, numerous street vendors are right at your door step. Breakfast is included. However, selection is limited to how you want your eggs prepared but you can drink all the coffee/tea you like. The staff is polite and knowledgeable about nearby attractions, public transportation and can assist in setting up tours. There are only 27 rooms on this property. Check in is fast, no lines for breakfast and check out is equally as quick. I recommend the Golden House if you need to be centrally located, near malls/public transportation and don't have the budget to stay at the 5 star properties. The Golden House is a great value.

No luxury or closet... but if you're planning to spend all day out and value great location this is the place to stay at... rooms are clean, great massage place right next door and the train right in front... theres starbucks, mcdonalds, malls and market stall close by...didnt try breakfast. To my surprise they have very affordable tour prices...sorry i found out late! Would stay there again.

For the price I paid, the hotel was worth it. It was very accessible to shopping areas, public transport and good restaurants. I would go back. Wifi was dependable too. Of course, if you are looking for other hotel amenities, you would not find it with this hotel. But for its price, I got my money's worth.

Very disappointed-room size and facilities
Very dispointed the minute we walk in, wanted to move out but no refund so end up staying. no TV channel to view, BBC though available its a repeat of half an hour news all day. Have to ask for tea bags every day. No hair dryer or phone, no shower cap. no place to hang your clothes. Room is stuffy, hotel repair work was going on and unable to rest in your own room, rooms not sound proof can hear other visitors in and out juggling the door keys and talking or walking along the corridor.

A round of applause for the hotel's photographer - the pics on hotels.com are not inaccurate, but EXTREMELY flattering. In reality the hotel is not as golden or glowing as portrayed here, and it should be noted that at the time of this review the hotel's third floor was under construction so it smelled of crazy chemical cleaner or paint. The smell was so strong that I couldn't sleep and I had to ask for a room away from it and the owner agreed only after politely suggesting that I would have to cancel my reservation otherwise. We ended up on what may have been an upgraded room with a flat screen tv and bizarre glass wall between bed and bathroom. Do not stay here with a business associate unless you want to see more of them than you'd like to -- this joint was clearly a love hotel back in its day, though today it is cozy and incredibly convenient as it is a block away from the train station and big malls.

Great location is the only plus point!
Golden house is a very basic hotel. Stayed on the 4th floor and rooms were newly renovated. No telephone in the room initially but receptionist was fast to send one up upon request. Water heater was spoilt and only in working condition after 2 repairs the next day. The towels were changed everyday and wrapped in a plastic bag. Not much space to hang clothes in the toilet. There were mosquitoes in the room and I was stung on hand and leg. WIfi connection was very very weak. The only plus point about this stay is, hotel is located near Chitlom BTS and within walking distance to 4 Face Buddha temple, Central World, Big C, etc....

Good location but mediocre service and rooms
The bad: The room I stayed has sticky, dusty floors. The wooden tiling even came out for one small area. Blankets are not cleaned correctly and has residues of pass customers' hairs on it. Gave me an itch after sleeping. Service staff at night seems very uptight and didn't give us the warm feeling when we arrived. It's like a basic motel where they pass you the keys and tell you the room number and off you go. Maybe is because of language barrier. The good: Hotel location is very near central shopping district in Bangkok. There's free breakfast though everyday's the same egg dishes with bread. Near the sky train and has a big signboard for you to identify it.
