“Classic”

Great hotel. Location is one of the best in Bangkok, close to skytrain and subway as well as shopping and park across the road. Variety of good restaurants within the hotel, great service, excellent gym, very comfortable lobby for lounging in. Hard to fault

“I love the Dusit!”

I found the Dusit Thani to be a very enjoyable experience. Comfortable,clean rooms and fabulous restaurants.the staff are always friendly and helpful and I like it's location.

“Old fashioned charm”

Very grand old hotel in Thai style, it has an impressive foyer with beautiful fresh flowers and a fountain, very charming. I was a little disappointed with the standard of our room which, although large and clean, wasn't quite up to scratch, eg the bathroom had no separate shower which I would have expected in a 4 star hotel. I found the mattress fairly hard - I don't mean I couldn't sleep but even by Thai standards it wasn't that comfortable. I should mention that my sister payed a very few dollars more and was a different floor to us where she had a bathroom with both bath and separate shower and her room was more up to date than ours. The pool area is lovely and the chaps working there are always really quick to put out a towel for you or a drink you've ordered. I think I would say that the hotel is starting to be a little tired, I don't want to put anyone off staying there because its access to the skytrain is great, it's across the road from Lumphini Park and a short walk to Patpong should you wish to go there.

Area recommendations

Use the Chao Praya River to get around from one area to the other, quick, easy and no extended wait in a taxi surrounded by traffic and exhaust fumes. Patpong is fun for a stroll around, peak at the markets and the craziness of the bar scene in Bangkok. The skytrain is a few metres away from the hotel so fantastically convenient for moving around the city. Silom Cookery school provided a totally fun and relaxed introduction to Thai cooking, the owner and chef is so entertaining and I learned so much I can use at home.
